The Official Motorsport Thread
« on: March 10, 2007, 12:55:40 AM »
Although there doesn't seem to be enough interest on here to justify single threads for all motorsport related topics I think just an overall thread for discussion of them would be a good idea, I'll leave the choice on sticky or not up to you.

Just to start it off today as the Moto GP season gets underway, Rossi (and Yamaha in general) has looked good in pre-season testing and is pole for the first race today, anyone think its going to be back to a one-horse race this season, or can Hayden put up a fight to retain his crown?

We also have the F1 season starting next weekend, Ferrari are looking strong, at this point I can see the title being between the two Ferrari drivers and Alonso, but BMW and Williams have also looked strong in testing.

Well, Casey Stoner won the first Moto GP race in Qatar, his bike was just too quick on the straight for Rossi to do anything about it, I'm sure they are not going to be able to run that many revs on the circuits where fuel efficiency is more of an issue though.

It has to generate enough interest to warrant a sticky...If it gets the posts, it'll get a sticky.

Pity the 190 laps before is pointless though. All you basically have to do is make sure you are on the lead lap and then you can fight for the lead after the final of many cautions. I've started watching more of it properly now Montoya is there, but I still find it pretty boring. I wish they'd race on more normal circuits as well as ovals all the time.

A decent start to the F1 season, Hamilton performed well, can't complain about a podium on his debut. My only worry is how much quicker Ferrari were than everyone else. Hopefully Mclaren can close the gap before the two middle east races, Melbourne has in the past exagerrated the differences between cars so lets hope that is the case otherwise Ferrari are going to run away with the championship.

Results were as follows,
