Nas - Salute Me
« on: October 05, 2001, 09:56:16 PM »
Anyone here feeling this track? This isn't a typical Nas track, but I feel this song... the beat is tight(Swizz Beatz) and Nas does some good rhyme switching

mediocre, fuck nas for gettin my hopes up with all these rumors of primo, pete rock, Large Professor and others to do his album. The confirmed producers are kayne west, swizz beatz, and dame grease...lol

This shit is garbage, very disappointing.  I want that NAs illmatic shit (don't we all) but this is far from it.  I heard it might not even make his album now...

I liked Illmatic but some of you need to listen to it again.  Its good but its not all mighty and above everything else ever created.  In fact-I enjoyed It Was Written More.

As for the new song-i havent heard it--im sure its just mediocre cos Swizz did the beat.

Man, Illmatic is the CD that got me down with Non Commercial rap, it opened my eyes to a whole different type of music.  I copped it when it first dropped, and i loved it instantly.  To me, it is a classic because it gives me that feeling. It is a short album but all the songs are tight, kinda like Warren G's first album, ya know.
And ya, I loved It Was Written too, nas did very well on that album

good observation Teecee,i always compared regulate to ilmatic...think about it:  both dropped in 94..1 is a west coast production classic..1 is an east coast lyrical classic...equivalents dude..and Illmatic is like no less than the 5th greatest album i've ever heard...classic shit, fuck nas for falling off LOL..man i thought it was written was real weak that's why i only have his first 2..i mean if it was written was his second best album then ugh it only goes down hill...fuckin lazy ass rappers..pick up "The Best Of The Doors"...peace-Tanjint

Damn, I gots to admit I loved "It Was Written", I thought that shit was worth every penny! Shit still gets alot of rotation from me, I think "Illmatic" is a classic but I really enjoy bumping "It Was Written". "I Gave You Power" lyrically blows me away, & "The Message" awsome production & lyrically tight. I've heard alot of peeps say he slacked off during the recording of "It Was Written" but I honestly don't see it. & I'm really anticapating this new joint, I have pretty high expectations but I guess i'll have to wait & hear the outcome. Nas is defo one of my all time favourite MC's.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
