If it was up to NIK, the GOAT team would be:

PG: Magic Johnson
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jerry West
PF: Elgin Baylor
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Admit it NIK. If it was up to you all 5 spots would be occupied by Laker players.

i just find it funny how many people are voting for shooting guards over rick barry

Who is not worthy over Rick Barry?

they're all great players no doubt, but unlike elgin baylor they wern't known for that position. when i think of rick barry i think small forward for the warriors. players like reggie miller ....despite them being 6'7 ish i see them more as shooting guards

Reggie Miller switched between both positions throughout his career, but played way more forward towards the end...He was a combo player.

you're right he did but he was more effective IMO in a shooting guard role, than in the small forward role, rick barry was better in his role at small forward than reggie was at that same position....that's my point ya dig. same for clyde.  i'd choose reggie miller all day night and all day long over barry if i was constructing a competive team but this is a tournament for positions, and i feel barry>miller at the small forward position. but if you feel miller drexler and west were better at the role of small forward than worthy, barry, and havlicek.....that's fine, it's your opinion and you're not applying any bias.

I think the fact that Jerry West, Reggie Miller, Clyde Drexler, James Worthy etc. were small forwards who had the capabilities of a shooting guard is what made them better overall small forwards than Rick Barry. but like you said, it all comes down to a matter of opinion...PeACe

WTF position is Jerry West?????

I grew up thinkin he was a SG, mainly because they called him Mr. Clutch...but a year ago, there was a debate on a Lakers board saying that he was really a PG, and I saw him listed on some websites and NBA 2K series as a PG....but now I see him as a SF on here. What was he for real? He was 6'2, so I don't see him bein SF.

Like Baylor, he was a natural in a smaller position, but spend lots of time in a larger mans position. West was a natural PG, but played SG because the Lakers had tons of guards in the 60's. Baylor was a SF who played PF. West rearly, if ever, played SF though... lol.

Jerry West was a combo player who excelled at 3 positions (PG, SG, SF)...He was 6'3", which was a very common height for small forwards in his era...PeACe
