You act like I've never seen the mathematcis of being on an indy befoe. Yeah he's making money, but Trauma didn't sell much and his next release will probably not do half of what Trauma did. My comments to him being irrelevant goes within the industry, yes BET & MTV. Artists need that to get the real money. 350K? Quik knows this, that's why he's making this "Can U Werk With That" crap. He wants to still be relevant outside of the small underground circle that buys his records.

Who gives a flying fuck what MTV / BET is playing?  Those stations used to have tons of credibility in regards to music, but now they're both absolute crap and are unwatchable.  Their target age demographic is 12-15 years old.  MTV is actually targeted at women, with MTV2 targeted at young males in the same demo.

Quik is far from irrelevant in the industry.  Everybody respects dude and he's still droppin beats for Xzibit, Ludacris, Jay-Z etc.

Do you honestly think a song like "CUWWD" is gonna grow Quik's fanbase?  Hell no it's not - It's gonna be even worse because after this song fade's away, the industry of MTV / BET and Interscope is already looking for the next Laffy Taffy.  And so when some next flavor of the week trend pops up, Quik is irrelevant again.

If he sticks to his guns and makes music that he loves, he's always gonna have that core fanbase that is always gonna support him regardless of MTV / BET and regardless of what trend is going on.  The few dollars he gets from a ringtone are gonna be gone quik (pun intended) and he's gonna be shufflin to chase the next trend and do another ringtone, all while alienating his core fanbase that bought every album that he dropped up until now.

Wrong, he DID beats 2-3 years ago for Jay and Luda. Xzibit is irrelevant now too. As for Quik going for the fast buck, he knows it's his last shot to make real money off of rap. "CUWWD" WILL expand Quik's fanbase, because half of Quik's fanbase didn't even know he released Taruma. This will have the name Quik ringing in there ears again. His music will suck now, but hell probably make more money with this one, and maybe pull an E-40.

Pull an E-40?  The hyphy "movement" was born and died w/ "Tell Me When To Go" in the eyes of the mainstream.  He even had Lil Jon who is a staple on MTV / BET behind him and it still flopped.  But even with that fact, at least Hyphy was innovative and brought something new to the table.  "CUWWD" ain't even close to being innovative and new.  The fans that he gains with "CUWWD" are the same ones that bumped "Laffy Taffy" and see how relevant they are now...

Just because the so-called "movement" that u think hyphy was died down, 40 did what few rappers did last year, which was put out a gold record. Of course, Em, Jeezy, Jay, Game, Snoop, TI, Luda, etc sold gold or more, they are the heavy hitters, and E-40 was never really a rapper that many people outside of Cali or the South didn't like. His previous album before that didn't sell much, showing a sign of his decline. He bounced back hard with My Ghetto Report Card, and I don't think anyone expected him to do what he did, a rapper though to be irrelavant making apperances on all the TV shows, having Amp'd mobile commericals and selling a gold record. Both of his singles got major airplay, and it's good for the core E-40 fans because we get to see more of him. Quik is probably trying to do the same thing, get out there, make more connections, do things a little bigger than he's doing now. It doesn't matter if Quik's new fans don't listen to the music you like, but fans are fans and you should just be happy that at least a few of those fans will go out and buy/ check out other Quik records.

C'mon the hating on Quik Has to stop.. fa real.. i mean on any artist realy.. Theyre gettin they6re money it's a Hustle.. ya gotta get it.. But on the rewal tip.. Can u werk wit Dat.. is Realy getting played out here.. Now thats dope.. Quik and AMG comin up again..  8)

That's true, at this point in time you have to root for the artist if you're a real fan.  He's not "selling out" per say but he's going with the flow.  That's like saying Cee Lo sold out on that Gnarls Barkley joint.  Goodie Mob Soul Food is a classic but . . .  Music is more universal now and days.  We just have to accept it.  Gangstas are not scary anymore on wax.  It doesn't sell:  ie DPG.  You gotta love that Quik is still eating if you're a fan man.

Not even close man, how exactly did Cee-lo sell out on Gnarlz Barkley?  That was some straight up original music, unlike this new garbage copycat shit put out by Quik.....To me, GB was on some groundbreaking original shit, what else in the game sounds like it???

Cee-Lo has always been a wierdo. U couldnt really call anything he does selling out, unless he was straight up coonin to sell some records.

Good points.
