Griffey

I got to go up to Safeco field to see the Mariners and Reds, Griffeys first time back in Seattle since 99. Brought back a lot of great memories watching him play when I was a little kid, the crowd gave him a 5 minute standing ovation which was awesome too. Good to see dude finally doing well after all those down years also. Anyone else in Seattle heading up today/tomorrow?

Just imagine where he would be at if he wasn't so injury prone :-\

well he's like 6th or 7th on the all time homer list, and he's tearing it up this year with 19, when he had like 27 all of last year. if my math is right he'll pass mark mcquire with 2 more homers . so even with the injuries he's been a monster.  he's only 37 so by the time he's barry's age there's a good chance we'll be talking about giffy the all time homer leader IMO. at the very least 3rd on that list.

lmao@ hes only 37. He can hardly stay healthy as it is, I don't think aging is going to help that problem.

Griffey is my favorite player of all time.  I'm originally from Cincy, and seeing him come there in 99 was a dream come true.  Very sad how injury prone he became.  But it's expected when you lay it out like he did.  He was the greatest CF I ever watched live.  But it's fuckin great that he's stayed healthy so far this year and he can still fuckin cut.

Seattle was hella good to him yesterday.

it's baseball, all he has to do is bulk up a little and he's still got 6-7 years

How many hitters besides the cheater bonds are there that can continue hitting for power like you're expecting Griffey to beyond the age of 40. I highly doubt he'll play 6-7 more years, maybe 4 at most. Granted Griffey does have one of the best power swings in the history of baseball, I just don't see him coming anywhere close to breaking whatever new record Bonds will set. I'd actually be surprised to see him hit 700. That being said, I hope by some crazy chance that Griffey does pass up Bonds in the future.
