" This is a poster printed from one of my paintings(1999) - The portrait of DJ Quik (Hip-Hop artist).  This painting was for one of my art class assignments when I was attending comminity college in Los Angeles.  The assignment was a portrait of someone with nature background (and if portrait is painted in color, the background must be in B &W, and if portrait is in B& W, background must be in color).

 The reason I painted Quik was simply because I was a big fan of Quik then (officially I was #1 fan at that time, I had appreared in couple of Hip Hop magazines only because I was a big fan of his, and by the time first time I met Quik in person, he already knew me, so I did not need to introduce myself to him then). 

 I know that he's not like Snoop or 2 Pac (I mean not popular  as much as they are or were), and many of you might want to say that if I can paint Quik like this, I should try more popular artists like Snoop, so my art would get more attention from more people and sold more, but my policy is that I do not paint anyone I am not interested in.  if I do paint Snoop (for example) for the purpose of getting more attention or selling more my paintings,  it'll be super ugly painting I had ever done.  I don't want to do that kind of thing, I hope it makes sense.

 So this is DJ Quik I liked a lot, I had painted with lots of respect ('cause he is great, very diffferent than others. you know, if I have some feeling to the person, I can paint that person very well with that respect or love etc.., and that feeling come out exactly on my painting, and I believe it makes paintings look good, so... I don't want to paint anyone I am not interested in).  Like I said earlier, this was for an assignment from my art class - I've got  "A". for this painting.

 I've taken a photo of that painting then printed in poster size (16 x 20, done by Kodak Gallery.com, $17.99 value), so it might look different than typical Art print. (this poster paper is like Matte photo paper).  it has my signature(J.T) and "1999" at the bottom of the right side, but the camera icon over the photo hides it.

 This poster has just printed and was delivered to me today (6/30/07), so very New.
