So, If "Godfather part 4" was to be made...
« on: June 26, 2007, 07:04:27 PM »
And it was showing you Sonny Corleone's younger years, like the first war of the five famillies, the first time Vito gets shot and Sonny getting his rep as the most ferocious don in underwolrd history, who would you cast? Rememberin there will be no significant part for Michael Corleone as he is real young, Sonny Corleone, Vito Corleone and Tom Hagen being 10/15 years younger than in part 1. A new Luca Brasi would have 2 be cast as he plays a pretty pivotal role in the first war. (The most memorable being taking 2 of Al Capone's men sent to murder the Don and hacking one of them 2 bits with an axe while the other one suffocates on a towel). Who would you have as younger Tessio and Clemenza? WOuld anyone have Di Caprio in there? I probably would, cant really think where though. Clive Owen maybe? What are your thoughts?

Deniro as Corleone that is for sure..
depending on how old sonny is/was supposed to be during this period James' Caan's son "Scott Caan" could play Sonny.
as for the rest who know's, as long as they don't put anything affifliated with hip-hop in it.

are the rumor's back of this film?
Did Mario Puzo ever finish this chapter? (R.I.P.)

Andy Garcia said that the studio ain't trying to do this movie. I liked his idea too, do a Godfather 2 type deal with duo stories. In one, have Vito played by DeNiro lead Sonny and his family in the Olive Oil War against the other families including Al Capone's boys. I think it would be great to see a young Luca in full strength, and see Vito lead the family in a war. The on the other side you have Vinny leading the family again, but this time in the drug trade. I know one story had him on the run, trying to salvage the family as it crumbles, and other rumors have Leonardo DeCaprio, which I feel would be a GREAT casting move for the modern story. Then you can end the movie with Vinny leading the family to it's demise, with Michael hiding out in Italy like he was at the end of the 3rd movie, and then show Vito and the family winning the war from their series. You have the family in it's early beginnings, and then you have the end never to have another sequal.

ditto that.  I mean, even if it was made, it would never look or feel like a true Godfather film.  It would be shot digitally, violence toned down, not Pacino, etc.  Just silly.

see... that would be my main thing. On the flash backs, you can have DeNiro play a 50something Godfather, and the son of James Caan.... who looks just like him, filmed in the old school film. Make it look like true flash backs, same quality as the OG. Then once you get to the modern sense with Vinny (Andy Garcia) and Al Pacino, you can make it look modern, digital filming and everything like that. Don't tone down the violence. Since the flash backs would be of the Olive Oil Wars, then it would have increased violence compared to 2 and 3. On top of that Vinny is leading the family to it's demise, as his on the run from the cops and hidding out in Italy where Michael is retiring. Eventually he is caught and is running the family from jail. Hell, you can even throw this one in Las Vegas, and tie in the Mexican Mafia or street gangs and stuff like that. So much you can do to end this series out with Vinny, but it's the flash backs of the Olive Oil War people want. People want to see Vito at the height of his power, how the Corleone family becomes the strongest of the 5 families, how powerful and evil was Luca, Sonny being the prince of the city. Everything has always been assumed, people want to see it. With DeNiro aging, and Caan's son still looking really young, the window is very small to get this movie out. If they can't within 5 years, they should scrap it and never mention it again.

IMO if deniro is going to reprise a Don role we need a NEW gangster movie to hang our hat on .

seriously i love the godfather (as evident in my avatar) however, what's came out recently that has been that culturally significant

godfather saga
goodfellas
scarface
untouchables
casino
res. dogs
pulp fiction
new jack city and so on.

we need something new, The Departed will surely be one of ^^^^ these, but seriously i'm getting tired of walking By those blak clothing stores and seeing tony montana  all over everything. i'm sick of every gangster story line pretending it's the godfather. i'm tired of people trying to replicate joe pesci. Sopranos were awesome, and it'll get jocked no doubt, but we still need something new to build off of.

Oh shit man, your on the same wave length as me completely! You read the book yeh? BUt hell yeh your picturing things the exact same as me. Can James Caan's son act though? Damnit man, if one of us wins the lotto we gotta finance this film. lol Picture it though, Luca Brasi at the height of his powers taking out the whole fucking gang of irishmen who shot the don single handedly. Shit! I would love to see that.

IF the 4th part was made... i think... Al Pacino could play his role... and i think that the produceres of Sopranos should continue the storyline....
