Don't get so caught up on his numbers.  With Dub being indie, he's able to do the music that he wants, and the music that his fans want.  A lot of cats have to sell millions just to pay back their label.  Kanye had to push something like 2.6 mill on his last album just to recoup.

Albums that are indie are on a much smaller cost scale.  Video's, Production, Features, are on a smaller budget which I think is fan-fucking-tastic anyway.  This isn't about the flashiest video, the big name features, or the producer of the week.  It's about Dub droppin an album the exact way he wants.  And yall should be happy as fuck about it.  I don't even remotely fuck w/ the West Coast anymore becuase they've devolved into a bunch of wack ass bitin motherfuckers tryin to ride whatever's hot *cough Quik / Snoop etc.*

But Dub I will always cop, because he's got one of the sickest flows in the game, he's makin the shit he wants and the shit he knows his true fans want to hear.  So don't worry about him pushing big units - just focus on the music.

So even if he only pushes 20k the first week, that will be more than enough to recoup anything and make some nice profits.  He's already ahead of 90% of the cats fuckin with the major labels.

And word, I can't wait for this album.  Dub is one of the last real ones left on the West.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the fact that Dub is on a indie, and is getting 2 make the music he wants...because i know the music he wants 2 make is gonna be dope as fuck 8)

But at the same, there's a way 2 do both really..Cube was independent and didn't really "force" any records on his album (besides 1 or 2, and it was a really really long album), and he sold extremely well

Sounds good.

By the way, I find it interesting that this album will see the first collaboration between Snoop and Butch Cassidy in 5(!) years. Didn't they split ways in 2002?

No offense to WC, but Ice Cube can do that. He is Cube, so he was going to have the die hard fans cop the album regardless and then some. I was just surprised they have not pushed a video to more outlets like a BET or MTV but they do have a good team over there at Lench Mob with Tony Draper and others. But like Jrome said, I am happy WC is dropping a album first and foremost and that he is not putting up with the major label drama he did almost all through his career.

Ofcourse Cube's fanbase is bigger than Dub's...That's why they should be working even harder ;)

Cube got 2 bet/mtv videos man...that's all i'm saying, push a video 2 bet/mtv...westcoast voodoo or that bitch one may get some spins..I am also happy Dub is doin what he wanna do, and not being forced 2 make any tracks (*cough flirt of the ghetto heisman cough*)

JRome summed it up.... and the album IS dropping on the 14th... its all systems go...

the problem with doing the big budget video is that even if you do one, there is no gaurantee that MTV or BET is going to play it....and if they do, it will be like at midnight ...

oh yeah... i posted another snippet... of 80's Baby... its on the Gang Injunctions snippet thread here on the dubcc forum

Yeah..i didnt get it either...but it seems like they got people who know more than we do about selling on an independant label. I think they've conceded Dub promoting this album on a national level...so they arent going for BET or MTV...instead they're focusing on his already existing west coast fanbase and maybe expanding on that just a little. I think Dub even said this himself in an interview that was posted recently, they arent trying to get BET or 106 & Park viewers, and i guess it would be a bad investment to put money into trying to promote the album for that audience since any video they do wont get much spin and, as a result, the majority of them wont be swayed...and since his video wont

Cube, on the other had, is best served promoting the album nationally because he has a fanbase thats national, even though mostly westcoast.

I think Cube's last album is one of the most overrated albums of the last few years. Beat wise it sounded like a generic compilation album, which did no good to the record. I hope WC's album isn't going to end up like that. The sampler sounded alright, but the (full) songs that I've heard so far didn't impress me.

While that may be true, all albums these days, with few exceptions, has produced in similar fashion...that is their is a compilation of producers giving beats and the album is layed out accordingly. The days of seeing great, uniform, production carried out on an album are long gone.

EDIT:At least Cube spit substance on that album, it was waaaaaaay better than the Peace Disc, and even better than the War Disc, although not by much

How about Sean Kingston or Common? Both have recently dropped a good record with one main producer and I can listen to those records without skipping a song.
