NBA allows instant replay to review fights and some flagrant fouls

September 5, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) -- NBA referees will be able to use instant replay to review altercations and some flagrant fouls starting this season.

The NBA Board of Governors voted last week to approve the changes recommended by the league's Competition Committee.

Officials will be allowed to use replay on the more severe type of flagrant foul, known as the penalty 2. Because a flagrant-2 results in an ejection, the committee ruled that reviewing such infractions was appropriate.

Referees also will be able to use replay after an altercation to ensure that no punches or other unsportsmanlike actions are missed in determining penalties.

seriously it'd end coaches and players bitching about calls  (well it'd reduce it)

^ I used to think so too but I changed my mind. All it would do is lead to a player like Wade demanding them to review every play cuz he felt he was fouled. Each NBA game would be 5 hours.

well first...the coaches decide when to call a review not a player
second, if the review challenged was correct in the first time around the coach calling for the review would get charged a time out.

mayne, bitching is a part of the game ya dig
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

The NBA is slow enough because of stoppage and excessive fouls...We just need consistant refs, that's all.
