it's just stupid when you're dre, older than 40, rich, having a great reputation , but still not having full control over your own label. i mean, why is he making it so hard for himself. he can easily put himself in a more powerful position ( i know i may make it sound very easy, but dre has the tools to be in that comfortable position). besides, his health is ok, he still loves to produce.

and even when it comes to marketing, does dre still not get it, that interscope is screwing it up? offcourse, an album from 50 cent is easier to market than an album by bishop lamont or stat quo, but that doesn't make it impossible for these (type of) artists to sell. repeating the same formula by forcing the artists to make the same bullshit poppy singles is definately not the way to do it, as you will see in the next few years ( 50 cent's sales for curtis have already proven this a little bit, even though he still sold many albums). dre even said that if you keep doing the same thing, then you actually become old ( i know it comes from an interview, and his answer was related to producing, but it's still relevant).
Real talk. +1

of course he does ... Dre doesn't stand up for his artists .. fact is Interscope only promotes shit as BEP , Nicole and these type of poppy artists ...so for the others artists , you need someone who are going to convince Interscope to release their albums .. Dre ain't doing shit so his new artists are left alone and have to promote themselves .. well when you are a new artist , it has to be tough to understand and deal with the business industry so the majority will be dropped from the label .. only Bishop seems to understand it BUT he better have a HUGE single to have chances to drop an album .. unlike Dre , somebody like fifty stands up for his artists and uses his power ... please explain me how THE FUCK a no-name as Tony Yayo has WAY less trouble to release an album than Busta Rhymes ... I'm sure, even with the 50 mania in 2003, Buck and Banks albums wouldn't have dropped if they were only signed on the Math ..the thing I really don't understand is why Dre work on some albums and then doesn't step up to defend the project at Interscope ... I always heard "Dre hasn't time to waste" , well working on albums which never will be released is the definition of wasting time ... Dre has just choosed the easy way at Interscope , he makes a lot of paper and doesn't have lot of things to do ... it's a GREAT pre-retired situation

you made some great points wcsoldier; you compared 50 ( g- unit records) with dre( aftermath), i didn't really look at it from that perspective. even though G-Unit has some artists signed that will probably never drop, 50 at least supports his artists. i mean, for example, dre could have helped hittman in some way, after it didn't work out on aftermath/interscope(it's actually quite strange that they parted ways; since hittman was all over 2001, so dre must have found him talented enough). at least king t was able to release the soloalbum on an independent label.
