Defenses expect the run, and since KC as a bad QB, they're arent going to play the pass honestly. Plus the O-line is sub par.

Every big-time running back is having a hard time this season, except for maybe Willie Parker.

LDT, LJ, Gore, Alexander, Reggie Bush, Steven Jackson, and I can't think of any others.

Those same conditions existed last year

Well it was his break out year. Now other teams realize him as KC's ultimate strength.

He rushed for 1,700 plus yards the year before that... I would call that a break out year.  Last year he matched that total, so it was actually his second season as the leagues first or second top rusher.

There are a lot of factors in the RB's rushing yards that have little to do with the RB; The o-line controlling the line of scrimmage and creating wide holes. A strong passing game making the defense stay back allowing extra rush yards. The play calling favouring a pass game or calling the runs at the most obvious times allowing the defense to stack up on the RB. And the defenses you face.

Damon Huard is on pace to throw a lot of balls and get a lot of yards but not really doing any threatening damage in the air. And KC has faced some strong run defense teams. Houston has only allowed 1 guy to hit 100 yards. Chicago only 1 and that was in the game where Dallas took them to town. Minnesota has allowed zero. And SD has only allowed 1 and that was Larry Johnson. Johnson is still on pace to break 1000 yards. With some bad run defences on the horizon LJ could still get up to 1400 yards if things improve. That's far from sucking.

Compare the oline from last year to this year.  There lies the answer.

I was kind of thinking that might be it.  I'm glad someone mentioned that.

Also, in his defense, he has had a bum hamstring.

OLINE is the main reason and KC overall is not as good.... anyone could see that going into season
