part 1 was kinda like a classic in its own weird way...like a b movie classic type of thing....it was sick...part two was hella made and shit and but it ruined everything about part 1....it was dope but it felt like another film....not anything like a continuation of part 1.......like they went from like action horror/sci fi....to like some weird attempt at an epic...i liked it still....but its got nothing on the first movie...its nice to know a third is droppin still

Vin Diesel Promises Two More Riddick Sequels
http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/08/25/vin-diesel-promises-two-more-riddick-sequels/

Four years after his character Richard B. Riddick last graced the silver screen, and some years after telling reporters that there would be another Riddick film in his future, Vin Diesel told MTV News that he no longer thinks there will one day be a Riddick sequel.
He now thinks there will be two.
“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”
Those are lofty goals indeed for a movie that was very poorly received when it opened in 2004, and had a mediocre performance at the domestic box-office (where it made just $57 million). Diesel, though, is undaunted, insisting that the long space between sequels has nothing to do with convincing others to get on board, and everything to do with wanting to get it right. (To be fair, “Riddick” performed well overseas, and also spawned a best-selling video game which many considered to be better than the movie.)
“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”
So where will Riddick go next? After taking the throne of the Necromonger King at the end of the last chapter, is there any doubt?
“Sooner or later we all end up in the Underverse,” he said of where we can expect the next chapter to take place, adding in a Riddick-like voice, “Sooner or later.”
Do you want to see a “Riddick” 3 and 4? If so, what should they explore with the character?

Third 'Riddick' Movie Won't Be PG-13
http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00026150.html

Though revealing that there are words of making 'The Chronicles of Riddick' sequel a kid-friendly movie, director David Twohy insists he and Vin Diesel are leaning toward a restricted rating.

There won't be a PG-13 rating for "The Chronicles of Riddick" sequel if director David Twohy has it his way. During an interview with Shock Till You Drop while promoting psychological thriller "A Perfect Getaway", the filmmaker explained that he and "The Chronicles of Riddick" star Vin Diesel are aiming to make another R-rated movie with the follow-up film.

"I've sketched out two ideas for the next installment," Twohy shared during the interview. "Vin and I have decided on one approach of those two, and there's some interest at the studio level but it would be as a PG-13 film, and we don't want to do that anymore. That's one of the concessions we thought we made with 'Riddick' that we shouldn't have made."

"We also spent too much money and we were too ambitions, so yes, if we do go back to a third one, it will be focused again, hopefully again the same way that 'Pitch Black' was, and we'll spend less money doing it," he further explained. "We're just trying to figure out how much less we can do it for, because I don't think Vin is going to work for scale again."

The director then added that the third "Riddick" movie, the first two were "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick", will be scaled down in size compared to the "Chronicles" movie. "The third movie would be more modestly-scaled and it would probably feel more like 'Pitch Black' then 'Chronicles'," he explained. "It will always be Riddick-centric."

In late 2008, Vin Diesel has exposed that screenwriter David Twowy is engaged in the scripting of the two sequels for "The Chronicles of Riddick". "David Twowy right now is writing the scripts," he told MTV at the time. Later on, he pointed out that details should be coming out circa the release of "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena" game.

Released on June 11, 2004, "Chronicles" centers on the adventures of Richard B. Riddick as he tries to avoid capture from bounty hunter Toombs following the events happened in 2000 movie "Pitch Black". The movie starring also Judi Dench, Karl Urban and Thandie Newton made as much as $57.8 million nationwide and collected a worldwide total of $115.8 million.

'The Chronicles of Riddick' Sequel Begins Scouting in New Zealand
http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00029265.html

Giving an update on the third 'Riddick' film is the actor, Vin Diesel, who has written on his Facebook that the film's crew have been in New Zealand.

"The Chronicles of Riddick" sequel has begun to show its shape. Following Vin Diesel's claim that the follow-up to the 2004 film has been developed, the actor has taken it to his Facebook to inform that the movie's crew have begun scouting. "The Riddick team is in New Zealand location scouting already... that's exciting," so read the statement posted on Tuesday, December 1.

The 42-year-old actor previously revealed that two sequels of the sci-fi thriller have been worked on and "Riddick" screenwriter was writing the scripts. On the reason why the sequels take a long time to be developed, he explained, "Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I'm always working on it. It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it."

Later, the "Fast and Furious" star revealed that the third installment of "Riddick" movie will feature some epic fight scenes between the monsters and his character, Richard B. Riddick. "There will be long scenes and long portions, full acts of just Riddick against the beasts - or creatures - isolated, which will be very compelling," he explained. "It's a 'Chronicles of Riddick' story told in the 'Pitch Black' fashion."

Released on June 11, 2004, "Riddick" centers on the adventures of Richard B. Riddick as he tries to avoid capture from bounty hunter Toombs following the events happened in 2000 movie "Pitch Black". The movie, which also starred Judi Dench, Karl Urban and Thandie Newton, made as much as $57.8 million nationwide and collected a worldwide total of $115.8 million.
