Phil Jackson says a 50-win season is out of reach

GangstaBoogy:
Jeannie Buss on AM 570: Phil did NOT say Lakers couldn't win 50 Games

Jeannie said that the LA Times article was not written by the normal beat writer (bresnahan), and that Phil was never quoted saying the Lakers could not win 50 games. Phil told her that he would never put such a numerical goal to the players, mostly because it would set the low bar - he wants them to think they could win more than 50.

New Orleans Hornets - 13-7
Utah Jazz - 13-8
Denver Nuggets - 13-8
Dallas Mavericks - 13-8
Los Angeles Lakers - 11-8
Golden State Warriors - 11-8
Houston Rockets - 11-10

Despite the injuries and tough scheduling, looks like were right up in the mix. 8)

Yeah but right in the mix is not goood enough for the Lakers. Its like the Yankees or The Montreal Canadiens in hockey in the mix is not good enough we need to be on top of the mix

I don't think there's anything wrong with being in the mix with contenders...

I dont think there anything wrong but when youre wining franchises and with rich history like franchises ive named these teams should always be above the average imo

Being in the mix with contenders IS above average.

ONCE AGAIN, how does being a contender equate to being average? Please make sense and try harder to comprehend.

When you wrote that your team was 11-8 thats very mediorcore in my opinion. My team the Montreal canadiens in hockey were playing something like6-7 games over 500 but yetand sill there mediocore and i cannot accept them juts being in the ix with contenders.
And i think same can be said about Laker and Yankee fans.
