The production, mostly from Ev and The Alchemist, is consistently brilliant. And the concept is dope - it's downbeat, dark and the perfect antithesis for years of 'sunny-sounding' West Coast releases.I still don't know why everybody sleeps on it, he is as West Coast as it gets.Other than that, out of albums that I bought:Kanye- GraduationFrontline- Lock & LeftAnother overlooked album, no promotion, I didn't even hear about it coming out, but it really was worth a listen.Kenna- Make Sure They See My FaceNot hip-hop, although it has a little hip-hop production vibe to it, but I can't take that out of my deck in my car.Stephen Marley- Mind ControlGreat albumLupe's is going to be in here once I actually buy it, and it was hard to leave Common, Talib Kweli, Collie Buddz, Mistah F.A.B. and Devin the Dude off the list.. Really wasn't a bad year, there is always quality music being released somewhere.
