Well, Merton got old too, so his play fell off. He wasn't a great tackler, but the linebackers with Gary Plummer and Ken Norton could stop the run, and Tim McDonald at strong safety prevented teams from exploiting Hanks' tackling. As the 49ers started to fall off, it was the overall team tackling that really hurt them, I still remember Jamal Anderson running the defense over.

I hated that dance, and Chris Chandler's old ass too. I hated the Falcons for basically being the team that ended our dynasty.
