Check out Black Child's latest interview for murderinc-online.com:

MIO: What projects are you currently working on ?

Black: Right now I'm working on the solo album, working on the BlackTah Affair album, I'm still working on the Hoodstock project, that's me and a few groups in the hood and I'm working on a few movies.

Is the solo album still called 'Ghetto Gospel' ?

Right now I don't know what I'm going to go with I'm leaning towards more 'Black Is Beautiful' because 'Ghetto Gospel' been so long and so much anticipation so much waiting for the album that Iv upgraded it since Eminem produced an album for 2Pac with the name so because of that I might flip it to 'Black Is Beautiful' or something in that area it depends on when the album is finished, what records I feel fit the album that's how the title will be decided. When the project is complete then I'm probably just going to listen to every song and give it a title but right now I'm thinking about 'Black Is Beautiful' even if anybody got any suggestions they could submit them to Murder Inc. Online y'all heard ?

Is their any guest features lined up at the moment ?

So far I got to keep allot of hats I cant let it all out the bag but y'all know I got my Murder Inc. family on there, some new artists coming out definitely some new producers I got this producer from Ohio his name is 'Safe R'. He's series he produced a few tracks, this Jordan song I got about Jordan's all the different Jordan's that came out and its just a song that kids can get involved with not be turning to violence and drugs and everything I just did a variety of different songs but everybody is a Jordan head so I figured they could relate to that but basically just my Murder Inc. family right now Kiss(Jadakiss) going to be doing something on there real soon. I aint going to let too many names out there cause its still early in the game for me right so i don't want to let the rabbit out the hat.

The 'BlackTah Affair' its been expected since 2003 was there ever any certain dates for it to be released before now ?

Right now early early next year(2008) first or second quarter no set date yet and I'm content with that because it gives me more time to make a classic, one thing I can say is I really believe my album is going to be a classic when it drop because it took so long I went through so many stages musically that I got a variety of songs from each era of my life and If I got ten songs from each era in my life just one of them out of each era I believe you know is going to create a classic.

The beef with 50 was probably the strongest we've seen Black Child lyrically and the time where you came consistently being on Ja Rule's Blood In My Eye and releasing your own mix tapes would you consider that the highest point of your career ?

No I wouldn't right now I like where my career is at back then I don't know if that affected my career in a negative way as more positive because it gave me a link as 'Oh Black Child that's the guy that stabbed 50' and I'm an artist, an actor, a author, a father you know what I mean ? It's so much more to Black Child that so I wouldn't consider that the highest point of my career but the beef DVD gave me allot of notoriety. It was my part of me getting to tell my side of the story so it definitely was good to have that outlet to be able to just put my side of the story out there, where everybody heard so much of his(50's) side and actually it effected us in a negative way too because since then I been black holed...some DJ's might not play my stuff because of the political stuff. It effected me in different ways like that, different DJ's say 'Oh you messing with Black Child' to street artists or 'Oh you messing with Murder Inc. that aint good' it don't really support that because of the political thing that's going on in music right now prevents the creative side from coming out but the real will prosper, 'Real Nigga's Gonna Eat Bitch Niggas Gon Bleed'(laughs).

Back in early 2003 you were on Ashanti's 'Break Up To Make Up Remix' was that type of record something you were comfortable doing or did you just do it in hope of getting your album out quicker ?

That was a record that we did me and Ashanti sat down and just wrote for her album my album wasn't in mind when we wrote that song we sat down actually talked and conversated and wrote that song in what would cause a guy not to be away from a beautiful girl as Ashanti and in the end it didn't have to be work so that's why i was like 'Hug the street every night trying to get my money right' but that song didn't get to flourish as much as it can because that song also was like slowed down and caught up in the middle of the politics of....the industry so it didn't get to flourish, it was taking off on its own the song had wings, BET there wasn't no day were we had to ask them to play it or nothing sometimes you got to be like 'yo I need some support on this record' different labels or different producers or CEO's always go through that, they got a new artist they trying to break they try to get support sometimes they combine them with another established artist so I was part of that two with Ashanti having her name and doing her thing and me being able to do a song with her is like a blessing it gives me a little light but that song got put on pause to I don't know why cause it had wings and it was taking off....

What's your opinion on Ashanti's current situation with The Inc. ?

I haven't spoken to Ashanti in awhile but I Love Ashanti and I feel what she doing is just part of growth as a woman I seen allot of female RnB artists do it, they record under a inhouse studio and what she's doing now is just recording on her own, producing her own album, if it doesn't come out the way she likes it then she'll come back and work with what ever artist but 'aint nothing wrong with then growing and trying to produce their own album. Like 'I'm going to get beats from this guy I want to have a duet with Jagged Edge....' try a few different things sometimes an artist grow and when they grow you got to let them grow and that's how I look at Ashanti's situation right now. I look at it like she's growing up to be a woman and right now she's taking control of her career and her music and the creativity direction of her music so that's a blessing right there to be able to get that far, to be able to succeed under someone that's successful and then step out on your own and still hold it down.

A lot of people know you as that street cat on the Inc., but those that really listen to you know you have some insightful things to say. Looking at the game in the state that its in, how would you reflect upon it? If you had the power to change it, what would you change?

I look at it like The Murderers bring allot to the game and music bring allot to the world and the state that the music business is in right now we need some positive stuff we need some things with messages, there's allot of kids dyeing out there, allot of violence it ain't all about 'murder murder kill kill kill sell drugs' because you see where that it gets you the Feds was on us and all that so everybody knows that side it needs some positive to have a balance but it also needs the street because it is people out there that's selling drugs to make sure their kids have a Christmas it is people out there that's not educated enough to know its different opportunities or their not giving these opportunities some of them even pursue different opportunities and give up, a job or education and it may be something else that causes them to get kicked out of school or different things so then their forced to the street life so you cant knock the hustle but the state of the game the way the music is now you need some positive music to balance it out so I try to throw a little message in my shit that's what's taking me a little longer to finish this verse right now because a little friend passed away so I'm listening to my verse and killing nigga's on it right now(laughs) and I'm like hold on I gotta let 'em live a little bit you know what I mean ? So that's what's slopping me now because I was bout to put that twist in there just to give 'em a little bit of elevation a little food for thought.

Going back to what you talking about, how kids have to sell drugs, you've been known to help your community make a difference what have you been doing and what plans to have ?

Well right now I'm currently starting my clothing line called 'True Heros' and proceeds of that is going back to the community you can check it out its called True Heros Clothing I have a myspace page set up and proceeds of that go's back to the community around every three months I'm going to pick a different charity and I'm going to donate money to different charities and I'm going help build different things maybe a basketball court here and maybe a soccer field over there but definitely giving back to the community is always number one priority above everything. I feel like I'm in the community promoting hard everything positive and everything about just the business and different opportunities bringing awareness even if its just doing this interview and bringing awareness to different outlets or something that's definitely a major part of the game always that should be apart you cant forget where you come from.

What's happening with Hoodstock you have kind of disbanded over the last year or so ?

You know how it goes in the hood like I said Hoodstock is a group with allot of talented people, we have a female artist she ended up having a baby that slowed her down with studio time, then we had Saiku who ended up getting incarcerated for a second but he's home and working with BET we still cool, you had Shan Da Hoodlum and Chico's Son who moved to Vegas, Shadow I don't know where the hell Shadow at I know he moved to North Carolina we were in contact for awhile but then after that i didn't hear from him for a minute but the Hoodstock project still going to come because we recorded so many songs that's so fire that I got them so once my stuff comes I'm still going to let that ride so Hoodstock has not really disbanded its just that people had personal life issues. Like I said the female artist had a baby one person was incarcerated and some relocated sometimes if there's opportunities open in other places people is going to pursue them and you cant knock them for that especially with music on standstill with us getting distribution on Universal re-establishing our selves again Murder Inc. as a label and me as an artist.

Its been eight years since Murder Inc. established itself in those years your album has never come out do you find that a problem ?

Yes its a little frustrating there's been a little tension sometimes but you know Gotti is a good man over all so I'm content but its frustrating but I'm trying to get it out there now make sure, not even trying I'm going to get it out there one way or another but it was different obstacles at the time when we was about to pursue my project heavy that's when the Feds rushed the offices and slowed it down real talk I just did a verse that when my album was about to drop they formed the Hip Hop Police its the truth so its like different things and I'm not mad at that because i was able to learn so much about the game I got eight years of experience so me getting that knowledge and applying it to somebody else is valuable. I didn't know what I knew about the music business now eight years ago nothing so everything I speak now is eight years experience and that doesn't make me a boss but I am a boss and even know I'm a soldier at the same time because I'm hungry and it gives me enough knowledge that when my album comes out I'll be in a better position everything is going to be better for me(laughs).

Do you want to talk a bit more about your clothing line ?

Its called True Hero's we took it from Thug to True Hero's we changed it up. Its basically like giving a whole other outlook, perspective on 'Thuging', its like 'Thugging' for God, 'Thugging' for cause 'True Hero In regard To True Hustling' its all the same thing but its a whole other positive outlook they try to ban bitches, ban niggas(laughs) like so positive is in and that's always should have been apart that's how it started it always was Native Tongues, Jungle Brothers, Q Tip and all of them back in the days Public Enemy you always had a balance so the clothing line is just to add to the whole culture its just an addition to everything. Its some hot stuff like i said they can go onto http://www.myspace.com/trueherosclothing and you can buy some and the proceeds will go towards the hood y'all can even recommend some charities I'm open minded because like i said every three months I'm going to do a different charity so people can send in information about charities that they familiar about and we may even do something to contribute to what ever cause they trying to do as long as its positive.

Fashion wise is that something you are interested in, kicks and stuff ?

Definitely that's my side hustle real talk and there's good money over there and its easy money over there. I feel like I'm a hustler I came from the gutter from dirt I can sell anything so i know i can sell clothes if I could sell music then I could sell clothes, movies whatever it is God blessed with speaking abilities to be able to communicate and translate and deliver a message that the people understand ya heard ?

On Rule's record you recorded a verse for 300 ?

What Gotti does allot of times I feel like its good cause we back at the beginning again it makes me hungry, he lets everybody rap on a song and the hottest verses make it. You should hear me on the 300 track but that's what it is that makes it more competitive more hungry because you competing for a slot with other people that's hungry too and that would the opportunity to be on a record and have it out there especially street radio so when i came it was blazing and the engineers disappeared I don't know where Buck is at I'm outta here I'm leaving I'm getting real rapper Hollywood and shit and I'm outta here, when the boss want to know why the verse aint finished nigga they left, I'm ready to leave anyway. I aint dry snitching is that a form of dry snitching ? I'll tell them to their face they know fuck that don't go to the bar when I'm spitting my bars(laughs).

Speaking of Rule's record do you believe he can make a comeback and be the Ja Rule back in 2002 ?

I believe that this album Rule got right now is a classic the songs that I heard is amazing he got some shit Eric Sermon produced that's crazy I know its another level I'm telling you that shit is crazy this album going to be a classic. He could do it there's still allot of hate allot of negate energy police still trying to stop people and all types of obstacles besides music that artists have to over come sometimes like you got other artists that maybe be scared that may want to work with us but maybe now may be nervous because of everything we went through or because they feel another artist is powerful and they may be scared which is a bitch move cause they aint suppose to scared of nobody but God real talk but its the truth there's other political obstacles out there that consist in the music game that allot of new comers are not even aware of sometimes I don't even tell them cause it may discourage them.

What's your opinion on New York Rappers trying to bring New York back has it gone anywhere in your opinion ?

New York aint never real go anywhere just other peoples time to shine like when L.A first started when Snoop first came and different L.A artists was popping off it was a breath of fresh air it was brand new so L.A had the slot and it opened doors for allot of L.A and that's what happened when the South had it then the Mid West had it for a minute, Chi Town Twista Kanye and them then it went to the South like the ATL had it popping and allot of artists from the ATL, Houston so with them trying to bring New York back New York 'aint every leave its just that other artists have to shine from other places and shit. The South niggas got talent they start spitting people thought it was different their slang, the way they talk everything is new so people is listening and actually niggas is mad at the South but the South bring allot of fun to the music, music 'aint all about lyrics and listening sometimes you want to party bounce around and act stupid be a little drunk or whatever real talk.
