Event Summary:
UK Soul Jam captures the energy and musical talent from London's
Contemporary Soul Scene. Bringing together Singers, Players, movers
and shakers or just connoisseurs of Neo Soul, Nu Jazz, Credible Hip Hop and RnB, Brokenbeat, Bashment, Gospel and Soulful House scenes in London.

There is a Soul Revolution quietly going on in London right now - the talent is staggering, but with little or no outlets for this live music to manifest itself.

Two Soul organisations that have been incubating and nurturing this Nu Soul Movement are KEEP THE FAITH & SOUL LOUNGE.

Keep The Faith - as recommended by Time Out, OnWeekToLive Mag & Sista's UK Mag, Colourful Radio & Choice FM. Showcases the finest UK, USA and Global Eclectic Soul music including live performances from
London's newest Soul related music talents. KTF headed by Paul Aaaron represents the full range of SOUL music from Soulful RnB to Soulful House and Brokenbeats with live performances from new and acclaimed artists.

KTF's reputation has been built on breaking new Soul music as well as celebrating the less known Roots & offshoots of the music earning the night respect as a leader in specialist music and frequented by a
knowledgeable crowd who are passionate about their music.

Soul Lounge has ran a well respected Soul related open mic session in London for Singers, Musicians and spoken word artists. Supported by the in-house band Soul Liberation Funk headed By Marlon Conton. The
Jams Soul Lounge host are organic, gospel in essence and intense, most of the faces of London's Club Scene have stepped up on the Soul Lounge Mic at some point. The Jams encourage new talent while celebrating the
true unsung Soul craftsmen and women of London's Soul and Gospel scenes.

The two organisations already had some cross over of attendance and artists who performed on their nights in addition to attending each others events - the next step was a logical one KEEP THE FAITH & SOUL
LOUNGE presenting UK SOUL JAM a celebration of UK Soul in DJ, New Talent Showcase and Open Mic improvised live music Jams. The buzz is already growing on UK Soul Jam, be in the house for when that positive energy explodes on the Jazz Cafe stage.

More Info On This Month's Special Guest Artists:

Don-e:
In recent years Brixton based artist, writer & producer Don-e has been focusing primarily on writing and producing for other artists inc. Shaun Escoffery, Mica Paris, Beverley Knight, Lynden David Hall, Omar, Grace Jones, Avani and Rahsaan Patterson. On his recent album " Try This" Don-e took the opportunity to introduce a talented new Birmingham-based singer Lornette Ford on the first single Slow; his good friend Omar is guest vocalist on the explosive No Reason; and UK rapper Grimm has a cameo on All We Need.
The hidden bonus album track "UK Black" paid homage to the many UK artists who have made their mark from the Seventies (back when urban was black) to the present day, as well as urging continued support for home grown talent, perfect material for UK Soul Jam.
Don-e has recently returned from a US tour guesting with Omar, and has also played a number of live dates with Grace Jones.
Earlier in his career Don-e signed to Island Records and released a remarkable debut album Unbreakable. The album also featured the Top 20 hit "Love Makes The World Go Round" and the now classic underground club and sound system smash "Unbreakable".
Don-e's unique Ragga Funk sound has caught the ear of not only emerging UK artists such as Shaun Escoffrey but also artists like DAngelo, Lauryn Hill and Mos Def.
We are honoured to have this important UK Soul artist perform on UK Soul Jam.

Jaz Ellington:
Growing up listening to an eclectic selection of musical legends, from Stevie Wonder, to Jill Scott, all have influenced his versatile singing voice.
Having been a student at the renowned 'Brit school' Academy, Jaz went on to sing backing vocals at the Smash Hits awards and then sang alongside British boy band, Westlife.
Coming from a strong Christian background saw Jaz singing at the forefront of Beechcroft Chapel National Choir and abroad to a tour in the Bahamas. Jaz has developed a versatile style that inhabits Gospel, Jazz, Soul and R'n'B. His knowledge and passion for music has seen Jaz growing up and building a solid solo career. The influences of other gospel artists such as renowned legend Kim Burrell have all shaped his voice.
Jaz has sung along side Blessed Voices, IDMC, Noel Robinson and Nu Image, Raymond and Co, 4 korners and many others. Jaz's foundation is and will always be Gospel Music.
He is an upcoming talent that will shake the conventions of contemporary gospel artists and urban artists alike.
Jaz's subliminal message weighs between his encouraging audiences worldwide that 'you can be anything you want to be with God as your successor'.

Sky Montique:
Fresh, innovative and with her sights set on the apex, this diamond is ready to reveal her sparkle and deliver her inimitable take on modern jazz to the masses.
Her distinctive jazz sound flirts seamlessly around eclectic soul and modern blues genres. Think Phil Spektor and his Motown 'wall of sound' meeting the quirky-ness of Billie Holiday but for the 21st century.
Sky's self penned debut album has been scrupulously created with executive producer Moe at the helm. Moe's own production and song writing credits include some of the UK's best known artists, Cathy Dennis, Omar Lynden David Hall and Roachford. Sky's preferred style of song writing and material comes from an amalgamation of jam sessions where as she puts it "I close my eyes, open my mouth, press record and see what happens".
Ras Kwame (Radio 1) reaction to Sky:
""Sky, a precocious talent that had me asking 'yo is that Ella? How old is this girl? Furthermore who is this girl?' the first time I heard her sing. She's incredible!".

Also performing will be UK Soul Jam & Soul Lounge compare Marlon Conton who has worked with artists as diverse as for Soulchild (Shepards Bush Empire) with Noel Mckoy. Dwele and Jaguar Wright. UK Soul Jam also features the in-house band Soul Liberation Funk directed
by Steven Harris a rising writer, performer and arranger from London's Soul and Gospel scenes.

Paul Aaaron will also make a cameo appearance on Guitar & Percussion.

The sections of the live music part of UK Soul Jam are open to the public to perform their songs or perform with the band.
