A good point about the Shyne Case..
« on: June 05, 2001, 01:21:15 PM »
Hey, all i agree with him, same thing with Flesh N Bone........in my opinion...I am not losing sleep over it.......If it happen to me, do you think they would care......they wouldnt..they are all about themselves until something bad happens to them....after i got out of jail, I became a big brother to a little kid...changed my life around...but when I went to prison......I didnt hear anybody in the industry caring......The people you hang with, and the company you keep is your choice, but be ready for the consequences........peep this story...I agree with it 100%

No Tears For Shyne

Well on this one, I'm gonna just cut to the chase. Why is the world crying over Jamal "Shyne" Barrow? The
brotha got ten years in "the clink" for culmination of gun possession and reckless endangerment charges he garnered during the now infamous Dec '99 nightclub shootout.

Why are so many people in the Hip-Hop community shedding tears, crying about injustice? This man has never done anything positive for the Black community that I can remember. Anyone who knows of something positive he did should email me soulpolisher2001@yahoo.com or put it on the message boards. But I don't remember him being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize Award. Every song I ever heard from him was on some gunplay/thug life/money and muscle drama. It appears as though he felt he needed to get live in the club and came up short in the courts. I am not loosin' a WINK of sleep over this brotha.

I refuse to! Especially when people like Mumia Abu Jamal and others who HAVE put it down for the Black community live in obscurity. I won't shed any tears for Shyne. Not when good Muslims like Imam Jamil Al-Amin (aka H. Rap Brown) are looking at doing serious years for crimes that reek of government conspiracy. I'm not talking about "illuminati, spaceship, JFK assassination" conspiracy. I'm talking about real deal Holyfield, COINTELPRO style conspiracy. But these men won't be seen on the cover of rap magazines and other popular "black lifestyle" publications. Too many real soldiers for the people have been put into the belly of the beast, for me to be crying over privileged Black entertainers, going to jail over their ego's.

Now some of you might say "Well Shyne is from NY. He grew up hard. He didn't have any privileges."
But I say, "When Puffy gives you a record contract- thatís a privilege!" Let Puffy sign ME up for a record deal (actually don't, I'm just trying to stay alive and safe). But if I did, I wouldn't be shooting up jack. I'd be too busy buying houses and paying for my cousin's college to be blowing it, shooting folks at a club.

Other people might say "Well, if he was white, he would never have gotten ten years."
My response is "Knowing that, Shyne was even more outta line. The American courts have never had a history of lenience toward Black males. OJ, got lucky folks. His legal victory has given too many brothas a false sense of confidence."

Regardless of the racism I believe permeates much of the American judicial system, none of those forces made Shyne pull out a gun and bust shots in that club. I believe that unless your life or the life of someone you love is in direct danger- you need to chill. And if going to the club means that you might have to bust caps- stay home!! Puff and them got enough money to give a shindig at a low key spot. The truth is, that if Puff, J-Lo, Shyne and crew went to the Hyatt Regency room 121 instead of the club they hit up, we'd all be talking about something else and they'd probably be on tour.

I will not shed tears, but I will pray for Shyne. Because I fear he may not get out alive. If he is put in general population, I dunno if he's gonna make it. OZ is just a TV show, but prison is a savage world beyond anything you could ever see on screen. I have one bit of advice for ShyneÖBrother, move your spirit to manifest the nature of your birth name, Jamal.

Peace.

My Question Is, If The Guy Threw Money In Puff's Face, Why Didn't Puff And Shyne Just Beat Him Down?  Why Pull a Gun? If The Other Guy Pulled A Gun, Just Run... get The Hell Out.  It Ain't Worth It.  What Was He Gonna Do, Shoot Puff Daddy In The Middle Of A Dancefloor? Yeah.  Call Me A Bitch, I Don't Care.  I Ain't So Brave That I Gotta Take A Bullet Over Somebody Disrespecting Me.

yea some very good points raised. I guess you cant live/represent that sort of lifestyle then cry when it turns on you

only thing that i was pissed about is Puffy got nothing but free publicity from the courts. I'm sure he did more than just watch Shyne pull a gun. But thats the legal system i guess.

Shit, Why not pick up the money and go buy another Feather coat. What they both did was inmature, selfish and dangerous at the same time. Its a shame though since Puffy did as much as Shyne if not more. Puff just got more money so he can get favors from people.

It would be ridiculous for me to expect an artist in the industry to be upset about me going to the pen.  Cause I haven't done anything to effect their life.  But Shyne dropped an ill album in my opinion, and I enjoy riding around bumping it.  And I'd like to hear more of the same.  So yeah, I was really upset when he got ten years.

nothing wrong with that at all...but if u r talking..and living that lifestyle...expect the law and prison.....might soon follow behind...........i dont wish any man in prison, but everybody knows that if u have a gun...u risk gettin shot......or going to jail..simple as that....and being black....or whatever..the system isnt going to work for u.....so...just go join a gun club or something..or stay home...if u know things might get heated....

Peace...
