frees up amare from center duties, allows him to play a more natural power foward position
frees up the other shooters on the 3 line, 1) because shaq still demands a double team down low 2) shaq is a SUPER passer
creates somewhat a halfcourt game....they're really one piece away from have a competitive half court game
brings leadership and experience, as well as a positive pesence in the locker room ....as aposed to marion

shaq will only play a few more years or year
shaq is too slow to run how the suns runs
shaq can't be effective on the defense unless there's a half court game
they still need a piece or two to utilize this trade to it's fullest (a better 3 point shooter, a good vesitile defender)

not really. much as i hate shaq and the suns... they never really needed marion as much as some of yall are sayin. marion's a hustle player, but he didn't exactly leave a void in the team, they've been doing just as good without him as they've been doing with him. his rebounding has been collectively made up by all the other players on the team. and most of his scoring came from other people finding him wide-open, so they didn't have much trouble replacing that.

the only reason i'd say the trade was stupid is cuz now they have to take shaq's terrible contract. but shaq could act like much more of a difference maker than marion would come play-offs time
