Why do we listen to music {broad topic}}

ok this topic is like so broad and so much to think about, but try to help me out on this here.

why do we listen to music? is it a excitement to the ear? does it give u something to think about, do you like the story telling in teh raps? i cnat figure out why i like music, i like listenign to it, to the beats, and the lyrics but why??

sometimes like when i force myself to listen thru a hwole ccd, since its new and i have to listen all the way thru, i fell ike like "shit, why i am listenign to this" "what is this doing for me?"  i mean this topic is so broad, its hard to explain.

Usally something will make me kinda swing my shoulder and imagine that i'm dancing to it (hey i'm a dancer) lol but then theres lyrics that will make u think "thats something i've always thought" or "thats really sad" or whatever ... If i'm in a happy mood i'll put on fast tracks with good beats ... if i'm low or whatever i 'll put on a good lyrics song ... I probably like rap so much cause the lyrics in rap are usally much deeper than other music and even if they are talking bout gangs and stuff its better than listening to corny shit like "i love u u love me 2 " or whatever that just like in every song ... Aslo because of Dre etc rap has some songs with really good catchy beats... Well thats why i listening to music and then theres the obvouis reasons when theres nothing on TV , when its the middle of the night and u can't sleep, when none of your mates are around etc ...
O yeah another reason to listen to music is that it can remind u of things,like some song coulda been out when u had the best summer ever and that song reminds u of that,or even moreso when say something happens like u lose someone and some song comes out like "i'll be missing u " by puff that helps u remember that person with what he is sayin ..... u know?
