You are right but so many people are so dumbed down, reading is down, you need lower pass rates to succeed, older people are forever trapped into this mentality where they are either completely apathetic and don't care but can have their attention gripped by the words fighting terrorism, or they are completely taken with this idea that the government ultimately acts for the good of the people. In reality government working for the betterment of the people electing them is something of a utopia and things have got worse.  Here is another example I am not an economics genius but it doesn't and didn't take a genius to work out that a nation and western world dependent on credit, stripping itself of value added jobs, coupled with mass immigration, coupled with destroying wheat crops and replacing that area with corn for biofuel, was going to lead to something very bad. Yet despite the obvious, whenever I brought this up whether at college, university, on a forum or wherever else, i was dismissed as being paranoid or a "conspiracy theorist" .The economists presented on television said no everything is wonderful the government said the same to and people said oh a collapse can't happen. Fast forward a few years and no wave after wave of reports are coming out, indicating that the sub prime problems were the tip of the iceberg for an all encompassing collapse. It really is like people can't put 2 and 2 together and now a great depression is on the cards and the consequences of that are just unimaginable. I don't want to elaborate on that because having even just skimmed over the consequences of the last great depression, it's horrific to put it mildly.
