dpg not going to blow up
« on: May 12, 2001, 08:06:18 PM »
first off before everyone starts hating i love dpg and i ordered the cd from cdnow...its tight as fuck. but i disagree with everybody who is saying that this will blow them up again. they were big when deathrow was on top and they had snoop dre and nate in their cd and videos. now they have no exposure. i havent seen any ads, no videos, and no radio airplay. shit i cant even find the cd at record stores. the true fans will buy it but people who dont know about the deathrow days wont know who they are. the only way i see them blowing up again is if they release the dpgc reunion album. and realistically i dont see that happening. supposedly only snoop has mentioned this album...there were about 10 upcoming ads for albums in the dpg booklet and the reunion album was not there. i personally dont see this album happening and that kind of sucks. i guess we'll have to wait until the next dogghouse release to see if they mention it an upcoming cd.

they'll be lucky to even see gold with the lack of promotion that they've had on tv radio and stores, this fuckin cd is unheard of!!!

I think they just did this album cuz they fuckin wanted to do their shit without soem huge label breathing down their neck saying "do this do that" because if they wanted sales they could have taken it to dogghouse, antra, aftermath, soo many labels would take them but thye just wanted to do their thing, they just wanted to make a tight album, i copped it today and it is tight, not classic but not weak, it's just 'tight'.  NICE packaging too. i think they'll do their commercial shit with dogghouse and others more connected dpg and dpg affilates IE Dre,Xzibit,Snoop,peace-Tanjint

We should all do the Dogg Pound a favor and spread the word. I have went to a couple of boards and told people about it just in case they didn't know.

Stop the Presses............!!!!!!!

Hold UP!!!!

first of all..its independent.......

Not too many independents to well against major distribution anyways.......

but for not being major, i think there CD is pretty well available.....It was sold out at the Tower Records for the past week here in seattle.....they were back ordered......good ass sign.....
And another thing...No I know said u see them selling 200,000-500,000
shiiiit........like E-40 said...Playboy thats Ghetto Gold!!!!

If they sell anywhere in that amount..they will probably make more money this way, then they did with the Dogg Food album, cause suge was gettin all there money....what, they are probably gettin what, $6-8 bucks per CD sold?   shiiit thats money in the bank...and in this day and age, more and more people use the internet, and there are a bunch of dpg news out there..with free advertisment about this CD, shit, even Mtv.com interviewed DAZ...it wasnt nothing major, but again, when u r independent, in MY OPINION...you dont need to sell the standard major Label 500,000 units to be successful, i think 250,000 is gold in my opinion..and i see them reachin that.  give them credit for doing it independent....they may not have the tv ads, or radio play, or magazine but, there has been enough talk out there about DAZ with J.T, the bigga, and the buzz is there...everybody is havin troulbe locating this CD, is actually a good sign, that means more and more places might order it....

Ghetto Gold......Ghetto gold.....
