Quincy Jones

Zero4eva:
I hope this forum isn't limited to hiphop cuz I think this guy deserves some respect. I went through the record collection of my dad and found a Quincy Jones album called Big Band Bossa Nova. I knew that Quincy was big in the 60s and the driving force behind MJ, but I didn't expect that he was so damn cool. Big Band Bossa Nova sounds so damn cool, well, I can't even find appropriate words. Y'all know Austin Power's opening theme/ Dream Warrior's "My Definition"? The sample's taken of Big Band Bossa Nova. Those of you who are open-minded - cop it! Different, but definitely worth the money.

maybe this thread should be moved to "album review"........

Quincy Jones is great.  His best record (In my opinion) was "Walking In Space" awesome album, with Killer Joe, and some other good stuff like that on it.  Another good one was "The Dude", and some of his slower jazzy stuff like "I'm gonna miss you in the mornin' " is some of the greatest music ever made.  He produced Michael's early stuff, plus, his most famous song of all time is probably "The Streetsweeper" (Sanford & son Theme Song).

I got mad respect for Qunicy as a producer, he's done some amazing work over the years, especially for MJ. I've not heard too much of his solo stuff but that track "Summer In The City" (the one that The Pharcyde sampled for "Passing Me By") is pretty amazing. I'll have to check some more of his solo stuff out.
