Pacers' O'Neal not opting out of deal
« on: June 05, 2008, 01:31:38 PM »
If the Indiana Pacers want to part ways with Jermaine O'Neal, they'll have to trade him.

O'Neal's representatives informed the Pacers recently that he will not opt out of the final two years of his contract that pays him $44 million.

O'Neal had until June 30 to decide whether to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Pacers weren't surprised. Team president Larry Bird said in February he didn't expect O'Neal to opt out because he couldn't make that much as a free agent.

Still, that doesn't guarantee O'Neal will be back. The Pacers want to trade him.

O'Neal hasn't played more than 69 games in the past four seasons and he averaged just 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds last season.

O'Neal, who has said numerous times that he doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding project, has been working out in Las Vegas to regain strength in his left knee, which has bothered him for two-plus years, and to also try to get back to his All-Star playing status.

New Jersey seems to want him. But then again that was when they had Kidd so maybe not now.

Yea...But if he opted out, he'd get half of what he's making now.

Is it too early to call him JO's contract instead of JO?

He made over $19 million this year. I think he's eating enough. But this just shows he cares more about money then winning, though he'd never admit it (nor anyone else).

Yeah I just used that sentence cause it's so ridiculous. I hate it when people say that. Like they don't have anything to eat if they don't milk the youth or something, gimme a break. Also, that Arenas dude is some fool. Talking about needing money to support his wife and kids, so he opts out. LOL. Then he talks about being willing to sign for less money so Jamison can eat. I'm really eager to see how that shit turns out.

Rant over.. with that said, JO is done anyways. It doesn't matter what he does with his life from NBA-Fan point of you and this point.
