Gambling is a hugely popular form of entertainment.  Casino's rake in millions, billions of dollars a year.  But let me describe the side that is concealed, hidden, and lost in all the bright lights, and beautiful archetecture.  The gambling addict.
The gambling addict is low on excitement and stimulation, an gambling fills a void in there life.  But filling the void is an illusion.  It's based around the thinking of, "Damn, I almost got it."  That's what America is all about.  It's called the land of oppurtunity.  Well I call it the land of, "Damn, I almost got it."  You think you would have filled that void, if you just would of won that last hand.  And when you do win the hand, you briefly experience the filling of that void, and more greatly desire to eat into the flesh of the devils temptation.  This is the devils plan.  Man against man.  It is dependant on illusion.  The illusion, that you are filling a void in your life.  But material wealth and physical gain is all an illusion.  And it will all be stripped from you, if you need proof, I offer the example of the generations before us.  All wiped out, and all their wealth, stripped from their right palm.  But the soul is eternal.

yo i saw a quote that really opened my eyes, i cant recite it word for word but basically it said

Gambling is fun, as long as you use common sense and don't go to far.  One of the problems of the muslim world is that it doesn't give its peoples the chance to use common sense instead it enforces itself, this breeds low self esteem and the feeling of a lack of freedom, which causes far more problems than gambling.

He's not saying you can't gamble.  He's just advising against it, because it's a rigged form of entertainment.  Gambling, ALWAYS comes out in favor of the proprietors... or else they wouldn't be in business.  How do you think they afford all that gold, the beautiful fountains?  Caesers Palace was BUILT off of the money of regular, everyday people who came there and lost.  

Like you said, people should have the choice.  But ultimately, if YOU hit it big, how many of your brothers will have to lose big to make up for the 100 grand you won?  Like he said, Man vs. Man, and that's definately, definately the devil's plan.  For you to win 100 grand, that means the casino is up at least a million.  It's the devil using man's hungers to hurt other men; there is no free ride in life, there is no big cashout, because in order for you to hit it big, someone else has to lose it big.  That's why people can't live up to god's standards, and can't even have prosperous lives, because their brothers hold them down and climb up the ladder over them as often as they can.
