i'm gonna give him props tho...8 million sold on his FIRST album, thats more than most rappers in all their albums put together
and like doggy said. who cares if its not real or nithin? or course u can alwayws to ur stuff
but if ur at a club...and they play nelly...no one is gonna say "thats not real turn it off"..they cheer and start moving and go crazy, he makes HUGE party hits and they stick in ur head, if ur at a party and that comes on..u start to feel it more
as for his songs.. "batter up" was the WORST
but i liked "EI" and "ride with me"
sometimes when i hear him..the radio has to go off...
as for his new song...DAMN..its so catchy.. its in my head and i cant get it outta my head lol..that chorus man..its just CATCHY lol

Yeah pretty much, I dont like his music at all but i dont hate tha man.  I only hate tha fact that a lot of ppl [atleast around my area] think Nelly is REAL hip hop, n that kinda pisses me off when they aint heard 3% of what real rap is and claim to be hip hop heads or sumting.  And like you said, a lotta ppl just hate on him cuz of the next guy...which is fuked up..But as I said, I dont hate the man, its not like he claims thug life, m.o.b n gangsta [unlike ja rule] ...
