Here's some I think you MUST own if you're into HipHop, just because they're so influential and dope -

Best MCing -

Eric B and Rakim - Follow The Leader
If you're into MCs you HAVE to know your Rakim, who basically invented the way everyone is rhyming today... the album before this is probably more 'classic' but this has some of his best stuff lyrically, 'Lyrics Of Fury', etc

DOC - No One Can Do It Better
Produced by Dre, some of the best rhymes ever, West Coast classic

Kool G Rap & DJ Polo - Live And Let Die
Mostly produced by Sir Jinx who did a lot of Cube's dopest stuff (Death Certificate), Kool G Rap is the master of rhyming everything with everything (which Eminem does now), and the production is HUGE

KRS One - Return Of The Boom Bap
One of the best MCs ever, very dope beats, from DJ Premier and others

Big Daddy Kane - Long Live the Kane
Another of the classic MCs, 'Set It Off' is like a lyrical masterclass

Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick
See where Snoop bit his vocal style from! Best storyteller ever, and some dope beats, 'Lick The Balls' is particularly ill

Just straight classics -

Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Incredible, incredible production, dark, gritty, raw, hard, and the rhymes are all dope too, has Wu Tang and Nas guesting

Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions
Often cited as the best HipHop album ever made, there is nothing like the beats on this album

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Amazing beats, some of the best jazz-influenced HipHop ever made

Cypress Hill - Cypress Hill
Insane beats, some of the best ever made IMO, and some of the dopest, funkiest rapping ever

cd stores dont have that west coast album, unless its "doggystyle" or "chronic" so search the internet, check the blogs i posted, try to find hip-hop blogs with mad albums to DL.fuck a CD store.
