im not completely sure about tha disease.  You know how tha blood cells r supposed to be round,  well when u have sickle cell there jagged shaped.  The cells get clogged in certain spots an it becomes extremely painful.  There is no medication 4 it cept pain killers an your boddy eventually gets immune to tha pain killers an they dont work no more.  There is no cure for it an im pretty sure it only occurs in african americans

I asked my mother about this and she said that it's something to do with having more white than red blood cells, or visa versa, she wasn't too sure. & yeah, she also said only black folx can get the disease. This disease sounds like one of the worst you can get, especially hearing that there's no direct cure.

Sickle Cell anemia is a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. Normal red blood cells are round like doughnuts, and they move through small blood tubes in the body to deliver oxygen. Sickle red blood cells become hard, sticky and shaped like sickles used to cut wheat. When these hard and pointed red cells go through the small blood tube, they clog the flow and break apart. This can cause pain, damage and a low blood count, or anemia.

Sickle cell is in many nationalities including African Americans, Arabs, Greeks, Italians, Latin Americans,  and those from India. You can be Caucasian and have sickle cell disease or trait. All races should be screened for this hemoglobi at birth.

Thanks for the info Mighty. I did have brief Science lessons in high school about this, shows how much I learnt huh  :P
