Kuruvchi, the second-ranked club in the Championship of Uzbekistan, has offered the Spanish club Barcelona $40 million for Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’O, according to the Catalonian periodical Sport. The Uzbekistan Soccer Federation website confirms that the player has turned in all necessary papers to receive a visa to Uzbekistan and will arrive in Tashkent on July 17. According to the website, Eto’O is now vacationing in the United States, but he will come to Tashkent with his agent and two aides. A copy of Eto’O’s passport is also posted on the website.
Chief coach of the Uzbek team Mirjalol Kasymov stated that Eto’O would play for Kuruvchi for at least six months and play in the National and Asian League Championships. Kasymov said that Eto’O was the ideal candidate to popularize soccer in Uzbekistan and draw crowds to the stadium.

Kuruvchi’s official website states that Spanish players Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Carlos Puyol will conduct master classes in Tashkent July 20-21.

Barcelona head coach Josep Guardiola has made it known that he will decline the services of Eto’O, Ronaldinho and Deco. Deco has already transferred to Chelsea and Ronaldinho will make a decision about his future soon.

Kuruvchi is now leading in the Championship of Uzbekistan after the first round. It has entered the quarterfinal in the Asian League and will play the Iranian Saipa. Kuruvchi managers say Eto’O will strengthen the club before the playoff for the Asian League championship.
