Goalkeeper joins Trezeguet in quitting international scene

Sebastien Frey has quit international football after being overlooked for Raymond Domenech's latest France squad.

The Fiorentina keeper was not called up for Wednesday's 3-2 friendly win over Sweden after not getting any action at Euro 2008.

Frey revealed he had decided to retire from the international scene after failing to be given a chance under Domenech.

"After reflecting at length, I publicly announce that given the current French coaching staff, I have decided to dedicate all my time to Fiorentina," said Frey.

Frey joins Juventus striker David Trezeguet in quitting Les Bleus because of disagreements with Domenech, who kept his job despite his side being eliminated in the group stages at Euro 2008.

Sucks, he shoulda been France's #1 a long time ago.

Domenech is simply ignoring everybody playing in Italy but Patrick Vieira. I mean Trezeguet was the 2nd best scorer of Serie A last season and he's the most prolific scorer in Italy from years. He's a beast. There's not a single reason to justify Domenech about that. Plus Mexes. Philippe Mexes is one of the best central defenders in Italy. Shit, maybe the best, along with Giorgio Chiellini, considering he's still young. Again: no justification. And Frey, he's the 3rd best GK in Italy after Buffon and Julio Cesar. By far the best french GK available. Still young too. Thank you for that, Domenech. Italy was at the end of a cycle, but you made it sweeter for us.
