Word!
That's kind of how I see it. They shouldn't be ashamed to be from Iran though. A lot of people are really interested to meet, get to know, and be friends with an Iranian. They shouldn't assume everyone just thinks they are a terrorist or something. It's usually the opposite that people are curious and would like to know more about them. So it's better to open up.
And Iranians should be proud that their country hasn't bent over and taken it in the ass from America like some other countries have.

Ok well thanks to old dirty ass tech for clearing that up + 1 nigga.
That being said I wish more Iranians would identify themselves as such, and not some vague majestic sounding term out of shame and self image problems.
Rich Iranian style sounds like some sick Ghostface Killah line where as, "Oh, I'm from a wealthy Persian family" just makes you sound like a whitewashed upper middle class loser.
Shout out to my Iranians..
I will be in Fresno this weekend (huge Armenian community, half cousins) and would love to shoot the shit and see where they stand on that...

It's not that big of a deal... SOmetimes Ill say Persian, sometimes Iranian. Never gave it that much thought lol, nohing to do with pride or shame or anything...
Prof@ssor:
there are multiple reasons for that:
1) we get faster through western security at airports, and also attract western bitches a lot easier.
2) it sounds more positive like the the Prince of Persia, unlike Iran, which is immediately associated with NUKES/WAR/HATE OF THE US/TERRORISM for you.
3) we've been called Persians since a couple of thousands of years ago, and only Iranian since less than 75 years.
4) technically both terms are officially accepted to refer to the country, but Iran is often used only for the country itself, while the term Persia refers to the culture, race, etc...
