Maybe I am not getting carried away with the comparison and it is you who is underestimating what Barak has in store. Just because you think it's a great idea, doesn't really make it so. In theory, I definately agree with you, but in reality, it doesn't work. It has been tried and it has failed.

Australia and Europe tax their rich at a higher rate, regulate their banks and can afford to provide welfare and it hasn't failed for us, or are we not part of reality and reality just revolves around bungling US presidents?

Officials in your country actually do their jobs. Here, government officials would rather bitch about what color the carpets in the white house should be changed to and throw large parties paid by the citizens when they make up their minds. Social security is treated like free money for the government and they really could care less if the people have the funds to retire. It's a sad, but sombering fact. By the time I'm 65, if I don't have money put away for myself, the government won't have anything to assist me on a fixed income.

If i was American id be voting Obama tho...i heard all the talk about 'he won't change shit' but I got zero faith in politicians to begin with anyway...its the little things he is proposing that i like and he is in the grain of good peoples...he dosn't strike me as an idiot who will run your country even deeper into the ground...although McCain definately does.
But word...how could you not be cynical of the USG...still, I fear that if you don't vote, the idiots that do will and they will vote in McCain....
Anyway, even if he gets in, Obama will inherit a sinking ship...
