For westcoast artist, why mainstream over indy?
« on: November 03, 2008, 01:49:09 PM »
With the recent number of push backs out west I have a question for any rapper that has a mainstream deal or is working toward getting a mainstream deal.  Is it the fame and the recognition?  The money? (even though you can make just as good money if not better doing indy)

Like with my camp we're not to interested in really going major, just trying to build the buzz threw shit we're doing and drop an album indy.  Like cats like Glasses, Mykestro, Bishop, Crooked I, etc have huge fan bases so why not get your album out and  drop it how you want, when you want and reep the benfits of your fanbase and get that indy money.

What is so appealing about the mainstream game?

What is so appealing about the mainstream game?

The attention (and the recognition) from a larger audience.

whats the point if your album doesn't come out though?  Like Crooked I was way more anticipated then he is now, everyone was waiting for him to drop and now its to the point where its just like, if it comes out great but other then that people aren't anxious about it anymore.

That's true, but the chances reaching a huge audience are bigger if you're rolling with a major. Besides, not everybody is as good as a businessman as Master P ;)

Look at all these cats that are on a major but still aren't reaching that huge audience.
