Things that rappers did to lose some success

There are some things that artists do that lose a fan-base and sometimes commercial success. Like the rock band Metallica losing many fans with their protest against Napster (according to fans they were in it for the money first)

Let's think of some of the things that rappers might have done to lose a strong following. For example, some say DJ Quik lost a lot of success because he never changed his style, or that Snoop went to the South. If you think the artist hasn't fallen off then say so.

Which rapper should we start off with?

With his health issues, legal troubles, political views and signing with G-Unit, getting "destroyed" by Jay-Z is like the least of his worries.
