Thunder signs C Krstic to offer sheet

Dec 22, 4:29 pm EST

OKLAHOMA CITY (TICKER) —Looking for any type of help, the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday signed center Nenad Krstic to a multi-year offer sheet.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but some reports have the offer being for three years and $15 million.

Under terms of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, the New Jersey Nets, who retained Krstic’s rights when he signed with Triumph Lyubertsy of Russia’s Superleague A, have seven days to match the offer.

It’s unlikely that the Nets, who are trying to clear cap space for the summer of 2010, will match the offer.

Krstic, selected 24th overall in the 2002 draft by the Nets, was averaging 16.4 points early in the 2006-07 season when his career was derailed by a torn ACL in his knee. The 7-footer returned to average just 6.6 points in 45 games last season.

The Thunder have endured a disastrous first season in Oklahoma City. They own the league’s worst record at 3-25 and already have fired coach P.J. Carlesimo.

No way the Nets are matching this...Looks like the Thunder have a bright future ahead of them:

PG Russell Westbrook
SG Kevin Durant
SF Jeff Green
PF Chris Wilcox
C Nenad Krstic

Not bad on paper.

They will definitely have a bright future especially with the almost sure possibility of another top 5 draft pick this year. When it was made final that my team was getting jacked I told myself that I would always support them, but then after I saw how big of a fanbase they had there and heard that piece of shit Clay Bennet talking about how happy he was that he got to move them, I slowly realized that the better they do the more justified that piece of shit will feel by moving them, so personally I would be happy if the organization rotted to shit. Ok i'm gonna stop now.

Oklahoma can suck my cock, they jacked our team that had been here for 40 years. You can't say that ain't some crooked shit. Just because Seattle teams have been down doesn't mean Seattle isn't one of the biggest markets in the US.

All those teams look pretty good when you compare them to your boys in the hood who play ball... come on now, they ain't gonna do shit in the NBA anytime soon
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

lets not forget collinson too. collinson is one of the most underated players in the league he makes smart veteran plays and has averaged a double double for 2 seasons now. the thunder have been bad but unfortunatley for them theyve entered the league at a time when theres aot of disparty.

The team definitely has a bright future. Westbrook to Durant will be a PROBLEM.

Collison is solid...his ideal role is back-up center. Wilcox>Collison, though. What they need in OKC is a coach to regulate the rotations. Damien Wilkins is a solid swing-man. Earl Watson is a great back-up point guard. Desmond Mason is nice off the bench...Robert Swift, Johan Petro, and Sene are all flops. Joe Smith=their veteran presence. OKC has the talent.. they just need to put it together.

Krstic joins Thunder after Nets don't match offer

Posted 1h 57m ago
By Murray Evans, Associated Press Writer
OKLAHOMA CITY — Nenad Krstic's second chance in the NBA developed quickly.

Two weeks ago, Krstic was playing for Triumph Lyubertsy of Russia's Superleague A. On Tuesday, the 25-year-old from Serbia became the newest member of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Because Krstic was a restricted free agent, the New Jersey Nets had a week to match Oklahoma City's offer sheet to Krstic, a 7-footer who was picked 24th overall in the 2002 NBA draft. They declined to do so.

Thunder officials wouldn't confirm details of their offer, thought to be a three-year deal worth $15.8 million.

"I'm looking at this as my second opportunity in the NBA," Krstic said. "It always is hard to come in the middle of the season, but hopefully I'll adjust really quickly and try to do everything I can to help this team. I know the team is young and I know we really have a bright future."
