How do you actually interact with people through blogs?

I set up a couple of blog pages last year, one at blogger.com and one at wordpress.  I made a few posts about my travels.  Anyway, I checked back now a year later and I don't have EVEN 1 REPLY!

What is it that everyone else in the world seems to know about blogging that I totally don't get?
