The Western Conference In A Nutshell..
« on: December 31, 2008, 12:15:25 AM »
The new west = Lakers, Blazers, Hornets, and Jazz...Those are the teams that matter now.

Nuggets still have a chance to make a case for themselves as part of that elite group. Spurs and Suns are on the outisde lookin in, but they're on a decline. Houston needs a major shake-up ASAP. Dallas killed themselves with the D Harris trade, they're doomed - stuck in mediocrity. Warriors wont be makin' the playoffs in some time...the TWolves, Thunder, Grizzlies, Clippers, and possibly even the Kings all have a chance to be bottom seeded playoff teams within the next 3 years. 8)

Hornets : Some people may be surprised but imo they need to change a little bit their style of play ... CP3 as great as he is , is too ball dominant on the offensive end ; 90% of the Hornets possession are : CP3 handling the ball and waiting/creating to find an open shooter or going to the hoop for a layup , thing is besides CP3 , no outside player on this team is able to create and put it on the floor ..

CP3 is a top 5 player  in the league but  him and this type of play stand no chances in a 7 game series against Lakers , C's or Cavs...

Blazers : Imo , they will become the 2nd best team in the West soon and will be the only team from the Left side having a shot to beat the Lakers in 2-3 years ... they just have it all , motherfuckers who can create (Roy , Rudy) , a good PG who can shoot and solid when it comes to decision making (Blake) , Outlaw can dribble once or twice , stop and pull up like crazy (very few players can do this in the league , even among superstars) , and solid inside players , Aldridge offensive arsenal is already impressive at his age and Oden can be a solid D anchor... I think they will reach the WCF next year and be ready to play a Game 7 against us the year after ...

Jazz : Not lucky this year , too many injuries , nearly every key player will be free agent at the end of the season ... cannot be a Finals contender with 2 bigs playing ZERO D anyways

True...New Orleans is missing Pargo, who was their only other ball-handler... but they've recently added Antonio Daniels, so that should help the situation. They also have Posey now. I think, overall, they're going to be better than they were last year. I definitely think they can last a 7-game series with Cleveland and Boston. They're a more explosive team overall, especially on the offensive end. They're still growing.

Blazers : Imo , they will become the 2nd best team in the West soon and will be the only team from the Left side having a shot to beat the Lakers in 2-3 years ... they just have it all , motherfuckers who can create (Roy , Rudy) , a good PG who can shoot and solid when it comes to decision making (Blake) , Outlaw can dribble once or twice , stop and pull up like crazy (very few players can do this in the league , even among superstars) , and solid inside players , Aldridge offensive arsenal is already impressive at his age and Oden can be a solid D anchor... agreed.

They'll be right back in the mix once playoffs roll around. theyve been injured all season, but still a dangerous team when at full strength (better than Boston & Cleveland)...Boozer and Okur slack on D, but they have solid perimeter d with brewer and deron williams...they have nice d with kirilenko and millsap off the bench, as well.,

outside looking in? lol. Barring anymore injuries....theres a strong possibility the Spurs will be one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the West recordwise. Right now, #3 with a terrible start to the season (Manu out, Parker out, etc).  True enough, theyre an older team (even though thats mostly their role players)...but the difference is, when the Shaq-lead Lakers were over...and they had to rebuild....they were mediocre at best while rebuilding. The Spurs are doing things gradually and are basically in rebuilding mode now...but still #3 in the West. They know that their core three can still compete (even if they dont win it all) until the big-time free agents become available.

Shaq left in 04. Lakers took exactly 3 years to rebuild a contender. thats amazing. nobody builds dynasties as quick as the Lakers can. Duncan and Ginobli are on a decline, and as soon as theyre done, Spurs will be lucky to be a playoff team. What do you think yall are rebuilding around? Roger Mason?? Any team can hope and pray for a big time free agent. LOL

Ginobli is on the decline...Duncan, not so much. Roger Mason is a role player.  You guys took 3 years to become a contender....but youre forgetting the fact that over the last 10 years...we've never not been a contender. Even this year with us being in, what Spurs fans would consider a down year, we are still one of the top teams. As for the Spurs future whenever Duncan is "done", there is noway to predict what kind of moves the team will make in the meantime. Its like saying when Kobe leaves the Lakers will be done. Well, maybe while Kobe is still around...the Lakers pick up another bigname or two, to help with the transition of losing Kobe. The Spurs are a team that players like to play for. They win, treat their players well, and are probably the best run franchise in the NBA. They know how to pick up small pieces to the puzzle to build a winning "team". The Lakers typically like to make the big splash with a big name signing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. But it keeps them in the headlines and they like that.  The same shit you like to say about people judging the Celtics too early....is the same exact shit you do with your team and others. You like to make uneducated predictions as to whats going to happen...and no matter how many times youre wrong. You keep trying. lol Keep it pushin lil engine...

Are you joking? Lakers have the future secured, we're one of the younger teams in the league. Spurs have nothing secured...you have no developing star caliber players at the moment. that's a bad sign. Duncan is definitely out of his prime, no way to deny this. Now, if you can attract a big-name free agent, that's a different story..but until i see it happening, ima keep saying it. Spurs=team going downhill fast. Even at full strength, I still see the Hornets, Blazers, and Jazz beating yall in a 7 game series.

Utah has still been winning with a hurt Deron Williams and injured Carlos Boozer not playing...Just wait until March/April to talk shit. Lets not forget, Sloan is an exceptional coach.
