He was always overrated.  He has always been a great defensive player obviously but I always thought he was overrated offensively

Yeah well he was always a pretty good power hitter, he even hit 50 a couple years ago but his batting average has always been pretty sub-par.

he was kind of overrated, but he definitely had skills

his glove and I guess the run production alone always made him quite valuable

he did come to close to 400 homers in a decade, not to mention 90+ RBI every year

10-Time NL Gold Glove Award Winner (1998-2007) is impressive

over 1,000 runs..... 1,000 RBI......

but truth be told he only batted .300 once and was prone to strikeout and have a weak avg

I looked at his stats, here are his best years as far as offensive production


1998   -    .271   31 HR   90 RBI       89 R       33 2B     8 3B     27 SB

2000   -    .303   36 HR   104 RBI     122 R    199 H     36 2B     6 3B     21 SB

2003   -    .277   36 HR   116 RBI     101 R

2005   -    .263   51 HR   128 RBI      95 R

2006   -    .262   41 HR   129 RBI      107 R      82 BB




his Dodger year is a humiliation for the record books

too bad he fell off at only 31 after 10+ years
