Blu- finally refreshing hip-hop
« on: March 17, 2009, 12:28:51 PM »
I've been a fan of dubcnn for a while now, but i never really posted on the forms only read the comments.  Anyway, for years it seems like the same muthafuckas get interviews ie chino xl or b-real or quik, no desrespect but those niggas is old, and we are in a new era. G-funk is dead and rogers synth. has been morphed into autotunes, but westcoast music is still alive. Blu is dropin alot of heat. I wasnt really feelin below the heavens too much but its got mad positive reviews. What i like is Blu' new shit cuz the production along with the samples are cleaner. Soul Amazin pt. 2 and Herfavoritecolour are sick, i wanna get sum feedback cuz i think he is the next best thing out the west on sum different shit

I agree. Blu is dope. He's underappreciated too. He's like a West Coast Lupe Fiasco. Too smart for their own good sometimes.

I don't know why he's so refreshing, sounds like 1996 Common.

common is little more over the top on the self-conscious bullshit, i mean as far as new artist go on the west coast, with the exceptions of j-rock im not feelin it. Like tedy riley for example yo, yes he is getting exposure but as we all heard, we asked that question, why the fuck didnt quik produce this shit, and yes terrace martins track on the end had a good feel to it, but that shit does not go hard by far by my standards. Being a new artist who can actually rap (suprised how hard it is to find a rapper who raps), I dont get that when i listen to a blu album its lounge music smoke a blunt music
