Is this your first time? if it is, I suggest writing a short or two, slowly building it up from there. But here are some tips.

1- Get a story, structure it.
2- A beginning, middle, and ending (most important!).
3- Make sure the dialogue is realistic, how? by reading it out loud AS you type it.
4- Try your best to write it in a script format, get final draft (Get a copy for like 10 bucks) or download that shit.
5- Try to be as original as possible, as far as characters go, and their actions.
6- As you write, you're brain will automatically brainstorm ideas, write them down, and IGNORE them until you're done with the script you're writing.
7- Don't try to put in big words, Keep it simple.

Ignore everyone one of these rules and you might win an Oscar. Like Paul Haggis did.

Final Draft 7.0, it's the industry standard for script formatting, it has templates also for you to check out.

This is dope. I'm now writing a "BBC Sitcom" thanks to those templates!

yeah the templates are a pretty cool feature on there, it relates a format to people who might just be used to watching something on screen.
