Question About Too $hort "Cocktails" album.
« on: February 25, 2009, 05:48:03 PM »
I have a copy of this album that I bought years ago.  It's a factory pressed cd and not a bootleg.  But the tracks appear in an order on the cd that's very different from
the tracklisting that's on the back of the cd case.

The tracklisting printed on the back is as follows:

1. Ain't Nothing Like Pimpin'
2. Cocktales
3. Can I Get A *****
4. Coming Up $hort
5. Thangs Change
6. Paystyle
7. Giving Up The Funk
8. Top Down
9. We Do This
10. Game
11. Sample the Funk
12. Don't **** For Free

The tracks actually appear on this cd in this order

 1. Sample the Funk
 2. Paystyle
 3. Ain't Nothing Like Pimpin'
 4. Cocktales
 5. Can I Get A *****
 6. Coming Up $hort
 7. Thangs Change
 8. Top Down
 9. Giving Up the Funk
 10. We Do This
 11. Game
 12. Don't **** For Free

Does anyone else have a copy like this?  Is it rare?

Yeah, that's messed up.  Mine goes just like it's supposed to.  Although Short is known for having different bonus tracks/versions, I've never heard of Cocktales being messed up like that.  I know on "Can't Stay Away" some versions had his classic track with Diddy "It's About That Money" and some had the track with Lil Jon (who Short discovered).

Anyway, "Cocktales" is a classic and one of the top 10 albums of all time hands down.

Yeah.  I know what you mean.  My version of "Can't Stay Away" has the Lil Jon track on the tracklist on the back, but then it has the P.Diddy track printed on the actual cd, when you open the case.  I figured it must've been a last minute change.  As far as the "Cocktails" album goes though, I don't know what's going on with that.  I eventually had to just write the tracklist down on a piece of paper and put it inside the cd case, so I could remember which order the tracks were actually in. lol
