I want to get more but they are so expensive.  I have gotten some cheaper through amazon but they are still to expensive for me to start seriously collecting.

i've limited myself to buying only movies that 1) i like  and 2) are on sale

10 of the ones i have were ones that came free with my blu ray player ( patriot, omen, ect)  but the others were deals i got or found in the used section at FYE

Yeah I used to be a big collector.I had over 800 dvds and over 100 tv sets but I sold about half of them just because I never watched them.blu ray I only buy movies I really like where as before I would buy anything and everything

Yeah, I got five free when I bought my PS3. I'm only looking to buy my faves on blu-ray, even though it pisses me off that I already have them and need to rebuy them.

Matt are you sure you are downloading proper blu rays as opposed to 1080i and 720p? Each blu ray will be in excess of 8gb and so I ask how the hell have you got over 200? lol

ever since i started downloading movies, i stoped buying dvds, blue ray is too futuristic for me, ill get into it when im rich, and there something more advanced than that

I dont have a blu-ray player but i bought Rambo(2008) on sale.   


Lets be for real, it was a BAD ASS flick. But blu ray players are mad money and movies aint cheap either

i download 720p rips (between 4-8 gigs each depending on video bitrate and sound). i have a 32 inch panasonic LCD that runs at 1360x768 on my PC and films look perfectly crisp. you don't really get any advantage from 1080p until you get to larger sized screens. granted, the 6-8 gig rips do look a lot closer to the disc quality than the 4 gig ones but you can't really tell the difference. a hell of a lot of hard drive space is taken up from the HD movies, but i have about 3tb of storage in total ;]

plus, you got all those films that been ripped from HDTV sources that are yet to come out on disc yet (lotr trilogy, star wars etc). rips is the way to go for me and i don't have a blu-ray player anyhow. interestingly, you can burn your own discs from the compressed, downloaded blu-ray rips to DVD-R that will play in an actual blu-ray player too.
