Two men were killed and two critically hurt in three violent incidents over the weekend in Philadelphia:

* Police were called to Rugby Street near Mohican, in the city's West Oak Lane section, at 8:11 p.m. Friday based on reports of a shooting.

At the scene, police found Quan Harper, 18, of East Washington Lane near 76th Avenue, on the street with gunshot wounds to his torso, said Officer Christine O'Brien, police spokeswoman.

On the steps of a nearby house, police found a second man, 23, who had been shot twice in the back, O'Brien said.

Both men were rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Harper died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The other man, whom police did not identify, remained in critical condition yesterday.

Homicide Sgt. Bob Wilkins said that the shootings are believed to have stemmed from a gunfight involving two or more people. He said that it was unclear whether Harper and the other man were shooting at each other, or if the gunfight involved others who fled the scene.

Two handguns were recovered from the roadway, Wilkins said.

According to online court records, Harper was to have a preliminary hearing in May on attempted murder, firearms and related charges for a September 2008 case. He was free on 10 percent of $150,000 bail.

* At 9:41 Saturday night, police responded to a radio call reporting a person with a gun on Smedley Street near Tioga, in the city's Tioga-Nicetown section, Wilkins said.

Upon arrival, police found Calvin Logan, 23, of 31st Street near Huntingdon, with a gunshot wound to the left side of his left back, Wilkins said.

Logan was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:09 p.m.

Homicide detectives, who believe robbery was the motive for the shooting, are seeking suspects in the case, Wilkins said.

* Northeast Detectives are also seeking a suspect in a stabbing that occurred about 3:25 a.m. yesterday in the city's Frankford section.

A 21-year-old man, whose identity was withheld by police, was found in the street with a stab wound to his stomach.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, O'Brien said.
