Due to all the negative feedback Nas got from the hype he created by naming it Nigger Def Jam restricted the album's content.  Proof of this comes from the material on the Nigger Tape with Dj Green Lantern.   The flow of the album felt inconsistent with tracks like Make the World Go Round between Breathe and Hero.  Basically, the topic content couldn't be expressed properly due to Def Jam suffocating Nas.

I couldn't vibe to the beat selection for certain tracks - Sly Fox is the one that pops into my head.   That rock orchestration came off as corny.   But, then tracks like Testify hit home.  It's such a dope track.

People say it's all a ploy but I think Nas tries to deliver quality material that can sell.  Hence, his last two albums have caused a lot of controversy to sell the album but have tried to live up to expectations.  I'm sure he polarized a huge percentage of his non-black fanbase with this album.

Whoever complained about the cover clearly didn't grasp the concept of the album.

Bishop Lamont's Nigger Noize hit home for me and that was released in 2007.  Nas released untitled in 2008.  So, I was left comparing the two.  For me Bishop touched on a wider array of content then Nas was able to and some of his beats were a lot colder then Nas's.  Two dope releases.

When I judge Untitled by itself I give it a 6.8-7.5 out of 10.    When I consider the Nigger Tape and mix up the two I give it a higher rating.  Shit is dope.

Not all of these are leftovers for Untitled.  The N is a Hip-Hop is Dead leftover.  I'm On features Cool (of Cool & Dre) and is from Dj Khaled's We Gobal.  The World has one Dj ad-lib in the beginning and is produced by Kanye West.  Nigger Hatred is the Proclamation verse over a piano - it was featured in the beginning of Be a Nigger Too video.   War is Necessary is from GTA4 soundtrack.

From what I gathered Nas basically came up with the album conceptually around Hip-Hop is Dead.  Originally that album was titled Hip-Hop is Dead...The N.  Again, Def Jam forced him to switch it up to Hip-Hop is Dead.  So, his next album he decided to go full blown with the concept.  The majority of these tracks are at worst leftovers from recording sessions that created Untitled.  There's a couple other tracks that aren't directly related but could easily be thrown on - Surviving the Times & Shine On'em.

Lyrically great album, Nas 's flow was on point too. I guess the whole political thing just isn't for me so this wasn't one of my favorite Nas albums, still dope though.

You know I know that but it's more social commentary than it is political.  Nas isn't as smart as everyone pretends he is.

very good album, solid album, some great cuts on it but while its solid throughout, it has high points but some average ones too.

Lyrically he is so far above anyone else on a mainstream level who made it and is a smart cat. Aint nobody calling him a genius but he is smart enough for his music. As for his lyrics, its easily on another level in comparison to most other cats out there who made it/get noticed.

Nas has been in the game for pretty much 15-20 years and to stay relavent and still be able to drop rhymes and kill a beat like he did on hero and still have a point to make pretty much sums it all up for me.

When a cat like bishop tries to branch himself into that category, it makes me laugh because the difference between the two just in terms of lyrics is so big, its almost corny what he does.

Nas is on another level to most cats in the game. Only a few can say when they're on the top of their game they can compete and i cant think of even 3-4 in terms of albums who come come as solid as consistant as him without spitting a whole bunch of bullshit to full his flow. He also while tries to sell, his beats have always been a different branch of dope.

I remember when stillmatic dropped and alot of groupies at there time though anything that never had an 'aftermath' sound to an album, was considered poor in terms of production, but truth is stillmatic has great production. As mentioned previously, production is about combining the speaker with the music making it sound as one and nas on stillmatic does that greatly.

Anyway nas is not the same rapper he was when he was younger, his flow has switched abit and he is older, its natural but dude is a hiphop legend and still today, making dope cuts!

Dope album, great artist.
