I honestly consider Duncan a Center.
Why he is called a PF is beyond me...........just so he can be labelled the best ever PF????
--- End quote ---
probably because he typically plays PF? lol Theyve almost always had actual centers on the team. Oberto, Thomas, etc. that play with him.

I get that, I'm just saying he really is a center, plays like a center. PRetty much no one in the Shaq era wanted to be a center, and to me that is why Duncan is a power forward

I dunno, i just see it as the game evolved and the center position has slowly disappeared (or changed). Duncan played Center in college, but turned to a PF when he came into the league and played along side Robinson. Then stayed as a PF ever since for the most part.

Hakeem... GOAT center??
hum....
I would say Russell (and I'm a Laker fan??) I always trade off between him and Wilt, but the more I think about it, Russell always beat Wilt, no matter the team Wilt was on, and Russell was maybe the best defensive center ever. Russell's defense lead him to beat Wilt, and that would put you over your counterpart. And Bill Russell was a center, in 2009, he'd be a power foward, but he'd be a power foward like Tim Duncan or Pau Gasol is a power foward. They are true centers, but in order to have a better defensive game plan against centers like Shaq and Howard, you put them to power foward and let some one else give 6 fouls.
But end of day, Russell never played PF, and so his a center, he beat Wilt more often than not, and because of that his better than Wilt. Kareem is in the argument, and Shaq will be in the argument once his career's done, and in the end he might be the GOAT (ok, I'm a Shaq stan... lmao but he is the most physically dominate center ever).

Wilt is the most physically dominant center ever, with a doubt. Shaq is big, strong, and fat. But Wilt was a pure freak for his time. Saying Russell beat Wilt when they played makes him the better center is insane. Look at the teams Russell was on LOL. As for Duncan and Gasol, lol. They arent listed at PF because of Shaq lol. Duncan took on the PF position because he got drafted by a team that had David Robinson. He has been a PF ever since. It doesnt matter what position you are listed at, you can guard any player on the court. Fact of the matter is, a lot of times star bigmen dont guard other star bigmen because the potential for fouls is too high.

Still mad at Shaq fir those playoff beatings... what was it, a clean sweep in 2001... oh, and 4-1 in 2002 8)
Duncan did switch back to C for a while after Robinson retired, but the Spurs realized that they had better match ups with Duncan at PF. It wasn't because of Shaq, it's all about match ups, someone else said it was Shaq. The game is changing though, and it's leading to many good big men who would be centers, now becoming PFs, especially if they are more of a skilled big as oppose to a back to the basket bigs. But in the end, it's all match ups, and for the Spurs, it makes sense to have Duncan at PF, and his the best PF that ever did it, I ain't mad at him. I still think of him as a true center, but Gasol is also a true center, especially for the triangle, but match up wise it's better to have Bynum bang with Howard and have Gasol at PF, it's working for us too.
As for Wilt/Russell, I would agree with you except for one issue. In 1969, the Wilt Chamberlain finally joined a team that could help him beat the Celtics again. Russell's teams had always gotten the better of Wilt's teams, save 1967 when Wit's Philadelphia 76er's team finally got past the Celtics, but with the Los Angeles Lakers, Wilt was surrounded by the best shooter in Jerry West and the best slasher in Elgin Baylor to finally help the Lakers beat the Celtics. So it all made sense, the Lakers and Wilt come together to finally beat the Celtics. Bill Russell had taken over the role of player-coach. Now Wilt's injury in game 7 hurt the Lakers, but it was West, not Wilt, who lead the Lakers. Russell>>Wilt.

mdogg, you know better than this...LOL. come on, now. the Wilt that finally was surrounded by a good team was a Wilt way out of his prime. You take Wilt in his prime and surround him with a team like that for a decade, and no way Russell gets those 11...NO WAY. Wilt>Russell...PeACe
