Illuminati 2G is here with Tha Realest how's it going?

What's up, what's up, westside in here all day baby.

Fo sho, Fo sho. Let's get into the new album, Witness The Realest. Why such the long delay in dropping the album?

Well going through different labels and bumps in the road. Finally got to this point where it is going to come out on Team Dime/RBC/Koch, it is finally going to see the light of day. I know there were alot of people thinking it was not going to happen, I mean I had other dates for the album that did not come through, but this is official. July the 14th, the album will touch the streets for real.

How did you link up with Mike Bibby to get the album released?

Me and Mike we are like family, like brotherhood. Him and Dane Flores, who is the CEO of Team Dime Records, that is the big brother, good looking out Dane. We just sat down and they have so much going on so they were like let's do the record label because Dane was already into music and he was like dog, let's push your project. Since I lefted Tha Row I went to him and since then it has been red carpet rolled out since I went over there.

With the long delay did you find yourself creating different versions of the album or did you keep the same core songs that you wanted for the album since you first started it?

4 or 5 songs stayed originally the same and I did go in there and scratched up a whole new kitchen full of new music. That's what happens when you stay in the studio so long, you gonna keep switching up. You will hear different tracks from different producers so of course I went it there and cooked it and re cooked it again. Alot of the songs that you hear me with features on, originally I did the song all by myself. I don't release it like that again, I like to have my feature on it, but I will do songs with 3 16's all by myself anyways. So I might release those songs I did on my own with no features maybe on some straight internet shit for the fans to be like damn. Because I work so fast and I work so much and by the time my features put they verse down if they are not there with me, I will just lay the whole song down by myself anyway. Just to see how it will sound and see if I will like it as a solo.

Tell me a little bit about the new single Get It N produced by Detail: http://www.zshare.net/audio/610920387c85e768/

Get It N, that is going to be the street anthem for the summer of 09. My homie Detail from Konvict produced it, what up with yall, he is straight out of Detroit and he just had that beat man. He was like I got a beat for you, let's do something different. I switched up my flow like a audible and we just did something different that day and it worked. I think it sounds good, it is more grimey, a edgey, street club song and I think it will cross over a little bit.

So give us a journey. What will the fans and the listeners be in store for when the album drops on the 14th of July?

The album is a whole story behind it when you listen to it. It's starts of, it is just riding, it is stuff for the females in there, and there is alot of storytelling. It's not, no disrespect to the cats making these kind of songs, the catchy Chingy type hooks, it is not that kind of record. I don't even think people would even respect me if I did them kind of records. I am speaking to the grits, the riding kind of shit, the war stories, the real movement for the west coast, the real movement for the south because that is where I am from. Even the east coast, I got homies out there from Jersey and New York so I fucks with it. This album is for everybody, Midwest also.

I got the song Do What It Do, that might be the next single. When you hear Do What It Do, that is going to be one of them. I switched my whole flow on that song as well. It is on some old Tung Twista type shit and it is some fly shit so it is going to be a good journey all the way through. I don't think in my opinion you will have to push fast forward to get to the next song or anything. I got Fat Joe on there, my bro that is the big homie, my Regime comrade Yukmouth, my west coast boss C-Bo. The album just goes in depth, I got Edi Amin on there. He spits 16 of the hardest bars, Sean Paul of the Youngbloodz, he did his thing on there for me, Devin The Dude, that is my southern comrade. Crooked I, my west coast comrade, he gives it up on there, J Valentine, it is just a good record in my opinion. So I just hope the streets respect it and it is something they can ride to for a couple of years. I don't think it will be dated in 6 months. You know some records will be dated in 6 months you know what I mean?

Yeah definitely

So I don't think it will date itself in 6 months. It will be something that you can still bump in 2011.

Do you have another single in mind after Get It N?

In my mind right now like I said I am thinking Do What It Do. That might be my next one coming up, but I am thinking about doing a remix to Get It N. I am handpicking the people I think should be on there, so I am going to push this single for a minute. Also thinking about slipping that Ray J track Peep N Game out there with a fly video or something like that. We got alot of stuff in the works right now.

Yeah you might have to get Scarface on that remix. You guys have good chemistry from the track you did with him on Chronic 2000.

Man that is my family. Scarface I grew up a Geto Boys fan. To be able to work with Face, that was a big accomplishment in my career, early on in my career also, so that is Texas bound all day. That is a different kind of collabo when we collab.

Definitely. Do you have any plans after the album drops? Are you going to get right back in the studio and work on another album or mixtape?

I am already working on the next album that we are going to be dropping. I am already on that. It is probably going to be just straight 12 or 13 songs at the most, just straight to the face. I don't even know if I am going to have a feature on that project. I might just drill out 12 or 13 straight to the face, I got some the most bombest producers making me some of the hottest tracks. I am grinding on that right now as we speak. I don't take no time off. Again there was so many songs that was recorded for this Witness Tha Realest project throughout the years that there is just so much stuff that I can just keep throwing out there man. I can do Volume 2,3,4,5. Like how Wayne do Tha Carters or Jigga do the Blueprints. I can really have the chronicles of this shit if I wanted to so it is just so much material. I have hard drives full of music that just derived from this whole project throughout the years.

Now with Death Row being owned by a new company, what is your thoughts on all this Death Row material that has been coming out from different artists? I mean even material from you that was done during that time is now starting to leak. What is your thoughts on that?

I mean it is what it is. That is some shit that happens in legalities and I do not have any control over that. Just trump me some publishing and let that shit catch fire. I ain't trippin, it needs to get heard. I am glad that it is getting leaked out. The streets wanted it and they finally get to get it and I am just happy that the shit is going to go on the shelves for purchase. Put that Pac shit out with the original people that was on it and the original producers without changing all that shit up. I know why it was changed up because there was politics involved. It is what it is but I want people to hear exactly how it was recorded at that time. It was alot of talented artists over there that did not get their just due so hopefully people can see all the hard work and the time put in the studio and hear that music and hopefully spark some peoples careers back up again.

What would you say was the biggest lesson learned being on Death Row Records for the time that you were there?

Learn how to read contracts man. Learn the business. It ain't even about being in the studio and doing the music, you are going to do that. Suge kept me in the studio, that is where I got my work ethic from, but learn the business side. That is where I really sat back and peeped game. It is more to it then just recording songs, you need to know the ins and outs of this business. It's a money maker, but you can get fucked if you don't know what it going on. I loved doing business over there, sitting down and having meetings with the dude, so I really learned the business side of it man. That has helped me in doing business right now and it has helped out alot.

Just wanted to ask you real quick about various projects that you had going on a few years back or currently and if they are still in motion or what is going on with them. First one is Last Circle.

That is just love, that is a click of young homies that we had going and we was recording alot of music. Alot in that click, a few got locked up and moved out of the states and are doing they own thing. We see each other, we still family. It's all love, we got that tatted on us. It's songs over there with the people that got them Death Row reels, they might release some of our music because we started working on the Last Circle project over there. Some real live cats in that click man. That is a group that Suge wanted me to put together so we started working on that. It was going to be some big music up out of that.

The Regime. We have heard alot of stuff on mixtapes and guest appearances. Is there any thoughts of getting a official album or compilation out there with you and Yuk and everybody?

That is in the works right now as we speak! We in the studio as we speak! Yukmouth doing his, I'm doing mine, the Gonzoes, the Tech N9NEs, the Monsta Ganjahs to everybody. The Jackas, everybody. The Regime album that we are putting together, it is going to be officially in stores. It won't be a mixtape, this is going to be in stores. Because all the other stuff has been mixtapes, this is going to be actually the album and believe me it is going to be banging. We are working on that right now!

Yeah that is something the fans have been fiending for a long time for. That is good to hear you are coming out with a official album.

Yeah man one thing is that The Regime is a big movement from state to state and the fans I appreciate it and we put a cold crew together, we out here. We out here LIVE, it's going down.

There was a rumor a few years back that you and Crooked I would hook up for a duo mixtape. Is that still in the works or are you guys still working on that? What is the status on that?

Me and Crook, we crime partners. When me and Crook see each other it's love, we make music. Crook busy right now, he got the Slaughterhouse going right now. I hope that takes off for him, but we will sit down when the time is right and knock out 5 songs one day and knock out another 5 songs another day and it will be what it be. Hopefully we can get it out like that, but I don't even want to do a mixtape, I want to put a project like that out in stores. All that mixtape shit is overrated to me, in my opinion. I need to sit the album on the shelves so the fans can really get a real album. All that rapping over different muthafuckas beats that shit is dead.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up around the U.S. or around the world that you want to let people know about?

We working on some stuff right now man. It is getting closer to the release date, so we got a few promoters trying to lock down some dates, but as of tonight nah. But by next Thursday we will have some stuff locked down and to move forward with. We got 3 or 4 different promoters talking to us right now. It's gonna be real live.

What is your website, myspace info, twitter info for people looking to check out your music.

They can get at me at www.tharealest.com and www.myspace.com/tharealest get at me. Then you can get at me on twitter too. twitter.com/tha_realest. Holla at me mayne, follow the kid around man and check out how I be getting down on my day to days. Really fuck with me. Go to www.rapbay.com right now and pre order Witness The Realest and The West Coast Don by Yukmouth. Yall go support these 2 real niggas out here on the west coast man, holding this shit down man, get your pre orders right now.

Yukmouth is on the new album correct?

Hell yeah, come on dog. I could not put my album out without him. I am on Yuk's album, Yuk on my album.

My bad you did say that earlier.

And then me and C-Bo working on a group album. That is some more shit that I have not even talked about. Me and Bo working on a group album. It is going to be some mainstream, fly gangsta shit. All bossed up, big suits on, walking around with gators on our feet, but talking about this real life shit that we doing. We working on projects right now, I am working on 4 projects with 4 different muthafuckas and they all formulating great.

Anything else that you can speak on or do you want to keep it under wraps?

I don't want to put too much gas out there. My main aim is to make sure this Witness The Realest does what it does but I am working on a gang of shit. I am in the studio with my man, my Texas comrade, The D.O.C. on the daily. We got a whole lot of shit cooking up right now and I got alot of shit going on right now and it is going to shock alot of muthafuckas. They gonna be like damn I did not know dude was doing all that. But dude is out here doing all that.

Well that is all the questions that I have for you. Appreciate the interview. July 14th pick up the album. Is there any last words or comments you want to get out there to the people?

Man I want to give a holla to everyone out there that has been supporting me for all this time. Give a holla to everyone from Texas, all day Dallas, Oakcliff, all the way down to Houston, from LA up to Oakland. My Compton comrades to Long Beach and just get out here and support man. Once again The Realest, go to www.rapbay.com if you want to get your pre order in and pick up that Westcoast Don by my nigga Yukmouth man. Thank everybody for everythang and I hope yall enjoy what yall going to get yall hands on July 14th. God Bless.

Decent read. Too much promo over news though, but still enjoyed the read. No props or mention to Phil after his free prmotion ??? He'll have to duplicate the number of Realest pics in his threads now  :-\

Interviewer probably does not know who Phil is

V2DHeart

But that doesn't mean Tha Realest wouldn't though when he was giving shout outs. Hell, Tha Realest would just need to simply open up his myspace account and find that 90% of his inbox is from Phil, so he can't act like he don't know

Dude calls himself Tha Realest  ::) and can't even find 2 seconds to shout out the name of a guy who dedicates his life promoting the guy

He's already shouted the dude on the intro of his mixtape. Come on, you act like he needs to put dedication out every time he speaks. Phil knows what's up.

He should change his name to Tha Realest 2pac Impersonator

Now that you mention it, a Phil dedication track would be sufficient in forgetting this whole mess lol

He does, Phil's life is dedicated to Tha Realest. LOL. I'm surprised his child's name ain't Jevon Jr.! Just kidding, peoples. Anyhow, yeah - Phil does massive amounts of promotion for Tha Realest. I think Tha Realest should make him a batch of limited edition cookies with his name in icing. "To my homie Phil from the UK, much love from your dude....Tha Realest". Mmmmmm cookies....maybe I just have a big imagination and I am hungry. Lol. Dope interview, surprised to see he's working with The D.O.C. only good things can come from that.
