A lot of baseball writers just follow what one person says, and Plaschke likes to rant for shock value. Obviously, Halladay or another top starting pitcher would be a great addition, but the cost is very important. A 1-2 of Billingsley and Kershaw should be around for a while and is very solid, and Kuroda and Wolf are good enough to hold it down and give quality starts. The talk about having these proven and intimidating pitchers is empty, there's only a few of those guys out there right now with playoff experience. Outside of Boston, what team has a rotation that is really that scary and loaded with postseason experience?

And no ace is a proven thing in the playoffs too.  Just look at what Jake Peavy has done in both of his starts.  Sometimes pitchers just have bad days, and this could be any ace.

Pretty much. It's obviously better to have an ace to start Game 1 of a playoff series, but what experience does Halladay have over Billingsley? You can't write a guy off because of one bad start or series, baseball is a streaky game.

I hope if the Jays trade Halladay he goes to a winner like the Dogers

Peavy is a bad example, he doesn't want to pitch in the playoffs or pitch for a winner.

Bullshit, every player does.  You don't casually become an athlete, you become an athlete because of its competitive nature.  Ignore Peavy, read the article there are also good examples in there. CC Sabathia didn't come through for the Brewers last year vs the Phillies, and that's the main reason they traded for him.

Peavy turned down trades to two contenders and has shit the bed in any big game he has pitched in, WBC included.  I'm not saying he casually became an athlete, but wants nothing to do with the grandest stages of them all.  Dude is a pussy.  And CC is a bad example as well.  Dude was worked to death that last month of the season.  And in that playoff game he was being squeezed big time.  If he gets the calls he should of, that game ends up completely different.

Chad Billingsley pitched great in the NLDS, and had a bad game in the NLCS...he was labeled a sorry playoff pitcher just because of that.  Kuroda pitched amazingly in the playoffs, and is not even mentioned this year in the "are we ready for the playoffs" talks.  It's fucking frustrating seeing the local press ask to trade an elite young pitcher in Chad Billingsley for a rental.

I thought the they were asking for Kershaw, either way I think it would be a bad move on the Dodgers part to move either one of those guys.  Though it is tempting.  But the Jays ain't serious about moving Halladay.  Unless someone overwhelms them, Doc is staying put.  MLBtraderumors reported the Jays turned down Weaver and any prospect out of the Halo's system. Halladay won't get moved until the off season at the earliest.  And Doc also recently said he WANTS to test the free agent waters.  I don't see him getting moved.

Yeah that's what they're asking, but the L.A. press is so desperate some even want them to move Chad for him.  In today's LA Times, 3 motherfuckers wrote the same thing about how the Dodgers need experience in the rotation for the playoffs.
