He has to work to get faster, yes but he's naturally super fast. You can never train a natural slow poke to be a sprinter. And I doubt he trains any harder than any of the other guys in that race. He's just faster.
Let me rephrase the height contest with a centre remark. It's like getting in a jump to reach a certain height with a guy 2 feet taller than you. You can't ever change the fact that guy will out reach you by two feet. No matter how hard you train at jumping.
