i miss the days of MJ - he had basketball as the #1 sport in america at the time

now its 3rd to football and baseball

The NBA TV ratings and revenues never, EVER, even came close to the NFL in the 90s. And at best he was neck and neck with the World Series in ratings.

Jordan's just mad because his number 1 sport was baseball and he was never good enough to make the cut. And let's not forget he played on a team that was one game away from the NBA finals the year he left and then lost the next year when he came back.

The Bulls were not one game away from the NBA finals the year he left in 93-94.  They were one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals but they lost game 7 of the semi's to the Knicks.  I don't know why so many people think that.

Basketball was never the number 2 sport in America let alone the number 1 sport.  If you got Steinbrenners cock out your mouth for 5 minutes you would know this.

Citizen-Y:
Woj's opinion pieces always try to come off as controversial.  Jordan just answered everyone's question, "How did you maintain your competitive drive?"

My bad. I forgot about Indiana. I wasa huge Knicks fan back then and hated seeing them lose to the Bulls every god damn year. I remember just being happy when they won.

That being said, if they beat the Knicks I couldn't see them losing to the Pacers. I do see them losing to Houston though. But YES, if Jordan stayed they probably would have won it all that year too. My point isn't that he isn't great. It's that his team was pretty great with out him.
