Lol.  Okay...point taken.  It does surprise me that it's someone's favorite.  But really, to me I'm surprised everyone didn't just vote for "Empire..."  To me, none of the other ones are as good as that one.

Lol. I think that's his way of saying that even if it is better than "Phantom Menace," "Attack of the Clones," and "Return of the Jedi" he still doesn't understand why someone would count it as their favorite, when they still have to take "The Empire Strikes Back" and "A New Hope" into account.

This might be why;
-your first encounter with Star Wars was the prequels.
-You think the originals looks too old school. Got no CGI effects etc.  :P

Could be for the younger peeps.  I'm old enough that I remember seeing all of them in the theater except for "A New Hope," which is one year older than me.  Better special effects or no though, I still say "Empire Strikes Back" is the best in the series.  Of course, by the time Lucas is done tinkering with Episodes 4-6, there may be so much cgi in there that you won't even see a big difference between the practical effects and the cgi.  I'd say you can count on there being even more updates (for better or worse) to Episodes 4-6 by the time they hit bluray.
